If you're reading this it means you got past the title. Urk.

Anyhoo, I enjoy the ezine "Fixing Your Feet" by Jon Vonhof. He's lately had a series titled "Embarrassed by Your Feet?" which caught the attention of the ex-NYT fitness editor-turned reporter.

    Nope, I would never.
It always amazes me when I ramp up my miles how my 2nd toe nail "lifts up" and then becomes "gnarly" toenail and then last year one fell off. It has taken me since the begging of the year to have yet normal again 2nd toe nails. I begin my serious marathon training in Nov...my goal to keep them cut short and maybe make it without too much gnarly-ness and keep them!

I am all about the nicely manicured, short, neat and polished toes!

You need this book. I can't say enough about it. This and Andy Pruitt's cycling medicine books are my bibles.

I see toenail oogies in my patients who use their toe extensors rather than their ankle dorsiflexors to clear the ground during swing phase of gait.

A P.T. or sports med doc who can do gait analysis might save some toenails! (and pedicures!)

Ewww. Just ewwww. I lost a toenail when I apparently broke a toe. The nail has grown back but is not quite the same. I should never say never but I would not do it on purpose.
