153.78 on Friday 24th. No change. Have not been "good". Was expecting to be a lot heavier as I consumed almost 2 packets of Tim Tams (they were on special and I went shopping while starving) and also a 250g block of chocolate (also on special - just can't resist those specials)! Oh...and the breadmaker has been working overtime and I just can't resist the warm crust with a nice coating of real butter - not the artificial stuff. I'm my own worst enemy really. No self control during winter while sitting in front of the fire. Did go for a 8 km bike ride last weekend.

    Maybe a Revelation?

So using the daily plate, I clearly had 2 weeks where the net calories indicated weight loss and the scale each time had 2 lbs down. Then I went back home last weekend so it was hard to track while there, came back here, and I was up 5 lbs, which held steady to today. How is that even possible? Has made me very discouraged, I must admit. UGH! I'm starting to think I need to go to a nutritionist or something. I need to do SOMETHING.

I've been having this problem for about 2 years. Down 2 pounds, Up 3 pounds, but never getting any real progress. I opted in and out of this weight loss challenge out of first hope, then frustration.

I did find a nutritionist a couple of weeks ago. He put me on a 1450 calorie a day "diet", but what is most important is that my calories must be 65% carbs, 13% protein and 22% fat. I am riding my bike 15-20 miles 5 days a week. I take one rest day and I do one super-easy recovery ride a week as well. I am not doing any weight training at this time.

I've eaten this many calories before, but I've never eaten a diet so low in protein. He also asked me to try not to eat anything processed and to try swapping out Soy Milk for my normal 2% fat milk.

After 2 years of non-weight loss, I was skeptical. It took me a few days playing around with food combinations to hit the magic 65/13/22 ratios... to my amazement and surprise, I've lost 3 pounds in the first 2 weeks!!!

I was a little hungry and a little sleepy the first few days -- I assume from eating more carbs than usual. I'm eating fruit at least 3 times a day, lots of veggies, yogurt, Kashi cereal, salads, almonds and graham crackers for a snack. Ditched my favorite protein bars.

This is my off-the-bike calories. I can eat 250 calories per hour on the bike and it doesn't count.

So ladies, I might be back in the next challenge -- I have 25 pounds to lose, which will take a while. Fellow hopeless ones, you might want to try this ratio of carbs/protein/fat and see if it helps you too!

How did you find your nutritionist? I meant to ask my Dr the other day, but I had enough things I was dealing with - UGH. :-) I hate to just pull a name out of the phone book, but I will if I have to. Just curious how others may have found one they worked with.

It came with my coaching services from Carmichael Training. If there is a cycling coach in your area I'm sure you can get a recommendation. I really think that if you ride a bike a lot, that your nutritional recommendations should come from someone who understands what you need to ride and what you burn when you ride.

For Friday I was 157. It always amazes me how easily vacation can derail a plan!

129...leaving for my 1500 mile ride in the Pacific Northwest on Tuesday so will not post again until I get back! Thanks to everyone for the wonderful support that helped me lose the 5 pounds that I have been trying to get off for two years. You all are very motivational and I thank you so much.

I am not in this challenge this time but I may try this. I have been trying for several years to lose some weight without any success. I will keep my fingers crossed.

I like posting at livestrong.com. it makes me accountable to myself. I have to go put in everything. Even though I was loosing I didn't realise how much salt I was eating (hense...retaining water). I lost 4 lbs last week when I logged everything (that was from last monday until today).

I had asked around and was given a name of a nutritionist from some of the triathletes I knew. I was very disappointed. She gave me information I already knew and it wasn't very customized other than to do a body fat percentage, weight, etc to come up with a daily calorie count.

Now I see a holistic doctor who works with a lot of athletes. I kind of stumbled across their office. They are outstanding. I really struggle with weight loss as well.

They look at everything. Hormone levels, balances, imbalances. Toxins in the liver. Thyroid. Diet and nutrition. Exercise programs. They never gave me a one-size-fits-all formula for weight loss and fitness. It's a customized trial and error process that they are committed to--unlike my GP who, after I complained I couldn't lose weight on a 1400 calorie diet, said I just wasn't trying hard enough. Seriously.

Of course, I'm very fortunate. My doctor was a part of Lance Armstrong's medical team for a few years at the Tour de France. Can't get more specialized than that . . . .

I think you hit right on my worry limewave. I'm a medical scientist, I'm pretty informed on biology and the body and yadda yadda. I fear I'd end up with someone telling me all the things I already know. I've never had such a problem with losing weight. I know I'm older now, who isn't , but I just can't stop thinking that something more is going on here and I can't figure it out. My TSH goes up for a few blood tests, then comes back to normal so my GP says all is fine. I did finally say - well then why can't I drop an ounce of weight. She doesn't know me well enough to know that I'm not a total couch potato though I admit sometimes I get so bummed about zero results that I don't even want to go out and move it. Plus I've been sick with a cough for 2 months now, that isn't helping. OY.

I keep joking that people shouldn't ask me "how are you", because I am Kimmy Whiner now and I'll tell you exactly how I am.

I just can't figure out who to ask to find someone around here that won't be a waste of my time and be more complete in how they view this all. I may ask my Dr if she knows anyone, but since she seemed to shrug off the comment I made, I'm not optimistic. I like her otherwise though, but this issue I'm feeling very alone in. Except for all of you guys, of course.

    137.5.

I'm benched from running due to a hamstring strain + ITBS (hoping to start up again soon though) and due to a summer class I've been taking I've been having a hard time fitting in regular rides (which are more time-intensive than running). We are finally having a stretch of no rain here, and I haven't been able to take advantage of it the way I'd like. Grrrrr. Grrrrr. Grrrrr. Pent up energy...

    Down 1

145 lbs today. Slowly, but surely. I always wanted to be one of those 2 lbs/week kind. Seems like I am a 1 lb/week.

I think I am down a smidge or the same (can't remember). I behaved pretty good this week. Kept mostly w/ training plan. Can't complain. Now need to push it a bit more!
