Hey Hammer - would love to watch your clip but I cant seem to get it to work. Now that could be because Im on a Mac or because I suffer a lack of mental acuity when it comes to computers .Originally Posted by Hammer

For those of you curious about South Dakota's ride: The Tour de Kota, here is a video segment that I produced about it.

It's not the best way to view the segment... when I watched it online there were some glitches. Could be that it's because of my dial-up connection. Hopefully it gives you an idea.

The most effective way to do it, is to do it.

I'm running Windows too, with IE 6 - and it plays for me. It play using a program called RealPlayer. There is a free download available at http://www.real.com/. Of course they are trying to sell a more functional version of the product, but the free download works for stuff like this!

Hmmm... yeah, I'm not really the tech guru. I think that it's meant to be played on real player. I know that others have had issues with that. I play it on my computer using real player. Good luck!
Hi Hammer (Melissa, right?)
Thank you so much for sharing that. I truly enjoyed watching the ride and hearing the riders comments. It is a real good video, you did a GREAT job!
JoAnn
Hey, thank you.
I actually got bit by the bicycling bug due to this project. I figured, "Eh, I don't know if I can do a marathon ever... but with some work I could probably make a go of a tour...."
So I bought a bike. By the time I was logging the video and writing the segment, I had a few miles under my belt. Then it took awhile because I'd pause the video and try to check out people's gear...
Now, I'd like to do the Tour de Kota. It sounds like it'll go up the eastern side of the state. STarting in Yankton again. I believe it starts June 10.
And, my cycling has been improving my cardiovascular system, so it seems like I'm making greater strides at my attempt at running too. Perhaps a 10k could be in order next year too... if I get beyond running 2 miles.
Wow! Thanks for sharing this - what a great way to see a beautiful state and experience a bit of history too!
I got an email from a lady on this site curious about the Tour de Kota. So, I thought that maybe I'd bump it back up. I maybe should've done this earlier, the deadline for signup is Apr 15. Sorry!
I have other scheduling conflicts so I don't know that I'll be able to ride it, or get the training miles in by that time. :-| Hopefully next year... though I wanted to try it this year.
Thanks Hammer for the post and for the reply!
I am signed up to ride this year and have been trying to get some miles in NOW as June 11th is going to come way to quickly..... Have managed to ride 150 miles since I bought my bike 10 days ago so only about 850 to go to meet my training goal!
wow, way to go. What kind of bike did you buy? Ride for me too!!! I'm off mine for possibly a month or so...
Good Luck!

Didn't you just get a new bike? What happened?
...... OH, I see the post that you broke your wrist...what a bummer. Godspeed in your healing!
