I don't have tri shoes, but I think they're pretty much road bike shoes with extra features. DH's have a water drain hole in the bottom, a single strap closure for quick on/off, a little pull loop in back, etc. He's out of town with them at the moment, or I'd study them. I'm thinking the velcro closure wraps the opposite way - they open to the outside rather than the inside, so you can undo them while riding without the strap getting caught in the chain. Maybe the inside is more comfy for riding without socks? I can't remember what else is different, but I would think they'd perform pretty much like other road shoes - just designed for speed & efficiency & quick drying. They may or may not be more vented (read "drafty in cold weather").
I have odd feet, too, so I feel your pain.![]()
