jes, yes, those are gaiters. Lightweight, cute, and they keep the rocks and dirt out of my shoes (I wear my shoes very loose, which means that without gaiters I get a lot of crud in my shoes). I have 3 pairs, all different colors. I get them from www.dirtygirlgaiters.com. The gal that makes them is an accomplished ultra runner.

Crankin, the skirt is an Atalanta running skirt (yes, it is spelled Atalanta, not Atlanta). Susan should sell these! The skirt comes with either compression shorts (which is the one I have) or "bum huggers". It is hands down the most comfortable running skirt I've ever tried on. I wrote a complete review here. The sizing is nice...based on real measurements and not standard sizes. The skirt I have (the "Commitment" skirt) has two pockets that do not interfere with my waist pack or running pack.

Did an easy 8 mi run today. I kind of backed off of Crossfit the last two weeks before the 50k and have been back at it this week...and it is kicking my a$$. I think the Crossfit this week (3 days) has worked me more than the 50k did! Spindizzy knows what "Fight Gone Bad" is. I could barely lift my arms after that this morning.

Going camping/running this weekend so I'll see y'all next week!

I love the Atalanta logo! I'd never heard of that brand before.

    Have fun this weekend!

Against my better judgement, I ran again yesterday. Just a 2 mile hill run, where I actually maintained a 10 min mile pace for the whole run, including the 10% grade. Of course I saw a guy doing repeats on the loop; he was running uphill faster than I run downhill! And then there was the teenager, on a road bike, doing loops on the hill, in regular shorts, t shirt, and wind breaker flapping behind him. He was clipped in, on an old road bike, though. That made me go faster.
When I got back, I did the Graham Street 8 minute power yoga routine and his 15 minute stretch. I forgot about the Hindu squats in the power yoga and later that evening, my knee was not happy, even though I modified them. My hips and IT bands are a little cranky, and now I'm getting ready to go on a 50 mile, 4,000 feet of climbing ride .
Tomorrow I have a wedding, so I am resting. Really resting.

Yesterday's plan was a swim and then a 40 minute run. I couldn't decide whether to run on the road or the trail, so I got on the treadmill. I did 40 minutes of varying tempo/sprints. I kind of surprised myself by doing 7.5mph for 3 minutes before I had to dial it down.

Today is an hour bike ride with a 30 min run... after an hour dog walk... then off to work.

yellow - I'll look at Atalanta. Thanks for the recommendation! I have 3 runs skirts (Brooks, Sugoi & Nike) and really enjoy running in them. We carry the Brooks and the Sugoi. I've heard from midwest retailers that run skirts are HUGE there (like 50% of their run bottom business) but we don't see anywhere near that kind of ratio.

As for me - 6 mile run yesterday morning, 4mi @ tempo. It was a tough workout. I might have been a wee bit dehydrated, but I got through it.

Today I did a "mock" sprint tri with the Portland Tri Club. The only "mock" aspect was that they didn't time us. Otherwise, it was full speed ahead! I was a little worried that my legs would be tired from yesterday, but I actually had a great day today. Very strong on the bike, and respectable on the 5k run, so I'm pretty happy with that.

Right now, I'm contemplating a nap but I'm supposed to be mowing the lawn....

    Easing into it

Managed to squeeze in a 30 minute walk/run today. Did 1/4 increments. It felt pretty good. I'm planning to gradually build up.
