Yeah - it was a while ago, so I don't remember the details, but it went something like that - he wanted to send extra to have it shipped out of state by rail or some such nonsense. We were to cash the check and send some back to him to arrange shipping or something really stupid like that. It was pretty obvious to us that it was a complete scam. He got a bit snarky when we told him that he was not honoring the terms of the auction by A. paying by paypal, as we'd specified that as the only type of payment we would take and B. asking us to ship out of state, when we'd also specified local pickup only, but he sure didn't try to debate it once we'd turned him into ebay.

Will take a week for the stuff to work its way through... but just so happens that yesterday I activated a new credit card... I'm thinking of (snork, *after* this little road trip ) getting off the credit grid entirely and being a "cash on the barrelhead, son" person.
    Bad week here too!

Last Friday my bank called to verify some strange charges for like $300. We compared lists and there were like 5 fraudulent charges made exactly that morning. Strange because I had purchased some repair parts in the morning using Paypal which should be safe.
Turns out that someone used my credit card # to purchase newspaper subscriptions in Florida (and of course that's not where I live!) and, can you believe it, online dating! oh well, on second thought I guess it makes sense that a thief cannot find a real-life date and needs to go online...
Anyway, I had to waste half the day taking care of this nightmare. I really hope the police find those people, whoever does this kind of stuff should be put away for a while!

The credit card theft is crazy. I just had another card hacked for musical instruments and online clothing. This is my forth card in about two months. I have turned into a cash mule. Pay day I go to the bank and get money out. Everything is paid in cash. I am actually consolidating debt and closing alot of credit card accounts. It's so bad here, that the police dept. has a cap on charges of $10,000, anything under that doesn't get investigated. I did get a call immediately from the card about the charges so that helped.

Last year our account got stolen from Paypal (DON'T STORE NUMBERS) and we spent $400 making calls from the UK. Seeing as how I don't have a passport I wonder how I got to England? After some calls, a notarized form and a new account number Citibank erased all the charges.
