    April 10 rides

Hmmm, I don't usually start this thread 2 days in a row.

Yesterday, I went for a 25 mile ride, through Concord and Carlisle, and a bit into Chelmsford. It was 61 when we left and 65 upon return, so it was my first short sleeved jersey ride, though I kept my arm warmers on. My goal was to go slow enough so as not to annoy my hips and groin, which were in a bit of pain yesterday. To my surprise, my tactic of focusing on going slow really works, because I ended up feeling really good at the end, like all of my pain went away, and I ended up with a respectable average for a hilly ride. Lots of blooms and trees budding everywhere. The lawn service trucks are now out with a fury. I hate it when they take up so much space, parked in front of people's homes, especially on narrow country roads.
Too bad the weather was just a teaser, because it is raining and 45 degrees right now. No riding today; I went to the gym and ran 2 miles and then did more time on the elliptical.

    April 10th-
We did a very enjoyable 20 mile ride. Started out at 40F, ended at 55F, and sunny and breezy and beautiful the whole time.

I did 30 miles yesterday. An easy ride except for the rain (I wear glasses0 and the cold. It was on a paved bike trail.

Yesterday, I rode the bike path with my friend, who was on her new Bianchi road bike. Riding with a complete newbie is really funny. I had to tell her things like click the left hand thumb thingy one time and get into your little chainring now before we got to the hill. I felt like a mother duck leading her peep (hey, an Easter reference!).

I'm so proud of her. We rode 11 miles, and she was totally happy when we got to work. Her goal is to do the bikepath twice. Oh, those were the days!

YES! I remember my first 11 mile ride! I was so proud, and amazed! (and exhausted!)

Only went cycling after noon which is not normal for me. After enjoying the Portland Farmer's Market this morning and questioning why I was eating a blueberry scone, pretzel, lovely tamale and cup of coffee , we cycled over to Performance Bike store.

Did some sort of loop afterwards I didn't quite know where but we ended up near the airport. Most the routes we did were very peaceful, very little cyclists. Cloudy day, but flowering trees were lovely.

Ride was around 43 kms. I'm sure we won't be eating supper until past 8:00 pm tonight but needed that shower to freshen up.
