Red face I have been so hungry lately

I can't seem to find what my body needs. I don't crave anything in particular, I'm just hungry. Even drinking more water isn't helping. I know I'm eating enough calories but I've also been cycling just about every day. I take a vitamin/mineral supplement to help balance the diet. Thought my weight would be down more this week since I'm kicking up the workouts.

Is this another symptom of overtraining?

Do you need more protein maybe? I'm on a diet that has more protein in it than most diets and less calories than I would think I need, but I'm not generally having a hunger problem, and seem to be biking just fine. I'm also losing the weight I was trying to lose for years.

I'm 43. I've noticed I've been hungry the last week or so. Then I'm fine for another week and then I'm hungry again. I don't have those cycles anymore so it's not pms. Sigh.

Don't know what the weather has been like in your area, but around here it has been cold and grey - I think that (and some ramped up training) has made me feel like I'm starving all of the time.

+1 on protein. That's how I get when I'm not getting enough. Too many carbs just exacerbate hunger, for me.

+1 on too many carbs. Carbs breed hunger.. more carbs, more carbs, yum, yum...

Zen, lol. Actually, I'd like a sunny side up egg with 2 pieces of toast at the Waffle House.

Me thinks I am cutting the wrong calories--will need to add more protein like several of you have suggested. Mr. Sundial will have to treat me to a steak tonight.

hey Sundial, just want to send out a me too. I'm 42. I do think it is related to hormones (menopause-type hormones, I mean). I'm trying not to worry about it too much--but yeah, more protein, thanks for the reminder.

Me too. Just because you no longer menstruate doesn't mean you don't have hormonal cycles. I have absolutely no data to back this up but it seems logical to me.

I ate an entire pineapple last night

What hormones does a pineapple feed?

    ?

The pineapple was likely OCD related.
I've moved on to snorting Cheetos.
