YES I am! I'm doing the Richmond start, since the start (and finish) is less than a mile from my house. How cool is that? I'm also doing the Tour de Chesapeake--are you? It's in Mathews County.

Hey Tulip! So fun! I'm not sure yet which start I'm doing. Are you going to be riding your Friday?

As usual, I haven't decided which bike I'll be using. We should try to meet up. I've never done this ride before.

Agreed! I've never done it either, but some of the people I ride with have and they've mentioned that it doesn't have the best snacks at the rest stops. But they do have bananas at each one!

I think I read that the rest stops are improved this year, so I guess alot of folks complained. I'll bring a supply of powerbars just in case, though.

    Hey Tulip,

Just found out my group is doing the Willamsburg start which makes sense since we are coming from the south side.

I would love to do it, but my daughter is coming home for wedding dress shopping and I think I'll have to punt and do that instead.
I'm thinking of just riding it with my son the next morning. Surely they haven't finished the bike path the whole way. I drove the road a few months ago and it was still in process. Is the ride to be on road or on the path or most likely, a combination with lots riding either/both?

Only the Williamsburg end is complete, but I don't know how far towards Richmond. Either I or ASammy will post a report (right, A?) On the Richmond end (my end) the roads are pretty quiet country roads. I ride them quite a bit.

Yep, I'll post a report from the Williamsburg end.

I think only 7 or 8 miles of the 55 mile trail is finished. This century raises $$ for the trail. Part of the ride is on the Capital Parkway which my butt won't like...

Do you mean the Colonial Parkway? Oooh, yeah, that's a rough one!

Oops yes, I meant the Colonial Parkway. They really need to do something about that road. I got lost in Williamsburg once and ended up taking the tunnel after the 3rd time of trying to get around it :eek

I can't do Bike Virginia this year . I have family coming in to visit during that week and wont be able to go. We are pretty bummed out about that, but there will be other tours to go on...
