Running into Spring!!! wk 3/2 to 3/9

Figured it was my turn to initiate the weekly thread again.

I didn't technically run today, that is reserved for Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday, but I decided to test the legs at the gym after coming off the bike.

Yikes. I forgot what the transition from bike to run felt like. Prior to today I had just been walking 5 laps around the track after my bike to loosen up for my swim.

I will definitely be switching up a few things in my training to allow for more post bike run. Need to get my muscles familiar with that again. Should be fun!

Happy Monday to all, how were your training runs?

Got in a 3.5 mile run today. I was planning to a longer run but I was not feeling very well. I think I was just dehyrated. My plans are to run 3x/week and bike 2-3x/week and use the stairmaster to get ready for my duathlon. I have to really focus on stretching as my hamstrings get so tight during my runs I think I will plan on one long run on the weekend and work on speed/intervals mid-week. I will have to see how that goes. I don't have a track nearby so I will have to do intervals using the timer on my watch.

    Have a great week everyone.

I was still a little stiff from the ride Saturday, so Karma and I walked it this morning.

1x2 intervals, 30 minutes. It was alright but the trail was creepy quiet tonight. That is what happens when it creeps below 60 in Texas, everyone hides in their houses.

I took my New Balance 1063's out for their inaugural run/walk and they felt grrrrr-eat! My shins are still tender but hopefully that will go away. I cannot believe what a difference a half size makes. No wonder I've been suffering. Sheesh....

I am convinced the longer I live Texas the bigger weenies we are when it comes to cool weather. I was fine once I got going in shorts and a tee shirt but like I said no walkers, joggers, kids playing. Then again I guess I was out because I am training, they aren't.

Well, I will be crying the blues when it gets over 75 degrees, so "weenie" is all relative. I would not last 2 seconds in the heat that you all have down there.

i am getting a little concerned that my neighbors are going to have me picked up for being crazy....they just drive by and shake their heads....

Our neighbors think we are crazy just for working out. Crazy is relative.

I just finished updating my excel from last week- 23.6 miles. Wow. I don't know if I have ever ran so many miles in one week. That is quite a bit for me.

After my ride on Saturday I'm still a little stiff. Karma and I have walked so far, but may try to get a bit of running mixed in tomorow.

I've been resting this week... a couple of days of being sore all freakin' over, it was time for a scaled-back week anyhow, then my shoulder went nuts over the weekend which wasn't enough by itself to keep me from running, but it didn't help.

I finally got out for 7-1/2 miles at an easy pace this morning before getting my shoulder worked on. It felt harder than it should've, but not too bad. It was good to just breathe and sweat!

Very strong winds & accompanying snowdrifts had me on the dreadmill today. Thankfully it was only a 3mile run for my training program. I forgot how noisy those things can be!

DH seems to be past his pneumonia and my lungs are feeling okay. Still not 100%, but close.

Oak Glad you were able to make it out today! Hope you manage to stave off any more soreness.

30 minute easy pace run tonight, extended to 34 minutes to complete the lap around the trail. I was happy to see my HR is coming down slowly but surely. Average tonight was 166 which is lower than it has been. DH's theory is the longer runs is getting me and my heart into better shape. I guess that is a likely theory?

For comparison, last week's same Tuesday 30 minute easy pace run my average HR was 170. Same trail and ironically I started both runs at the exact same time to the minute with nearly identical weather these past two weeks. Probably as close to replicating the conditions as possible.

    tofu- Is Karma your dog?

Oak- I am ready for some rest time. I keep thinking my training will have it at some point!

Urlea- What I forget is how hard the impact of the mill is on me. It is like a hard pounding. I dread it for sure.

Nah...don't. That is just how much I hate the treadmill. Seriously, I will be whining up a storm when the hot humid weather starts here.

I have to say, I am really impressed with some of the runs you guys have been putting up. You guys are doing great. I was off the board for a number of months and I popped back in and you guys are kicking it!

I have to figure out how to get my "longish" run in this week. It is scheduled for Saturday but I have a workshop all day.

So the juggling starts of how to fit everything in around that.
