I'm glad you finally got Twiggy home!

I rescued a kitty last week -- it got beat up by the household dog. She's 4 months, a tabby. Broken cheek bone, broken jaw, and injured left eye and nerve to that side of the face. What a trooper! We are having to tube feed her, but she is better and stronger every day.

When she finally is "home-ready", we'll be needing a home for her! I will post a picture in case anyone local is thinking they are ready to take on a beautiful little girl! She stole everyone's heart at the clinic. The owner was considering euthanasia but we talked them out of it and took ownership of her.

    Somedays my job is GREAT!

Tulip - what kind of dog do you have? I've been looking for a dog between 20-30 pounds that my son could train.

Here's my Zeus - a 12 yo border collie mix therapy dog. He's the other love of my life (my son is the first). But he's definitely my bested buddy:

I've been looking for a used dog online and came across this amazing organization that rescues strays off the horrible streets of Taiwan. For whatever reason they send them to Canada, we probably have easier importing laws. But they have these basenji/manchester terrier mixes that are 20-40lbs. There's one that looks like a miniature yellow lab at only 26lbs!

Every single one of them has a sad story of abuse/abandonment and it was an evening filled with tears when I was reading their histories

Mtn Darby--how old is your son? My dog is 45 lbs. He's a border collie, maybe purebred. There are border collies that are smaller.

I love Basenjis, and would have liked to get one, but they don't bark and I needed a watchdog.

Tulip, mine is a border collier (mix) as well, but for some reason I wouldn't have guessed that for Shiloh. Maybe it's the ears that threw me? She looks smaller in her pictures which is why I asked. Zeus is usually at 40-42 pounds but has been ill for the past few months and we can't figure it out. He's down to about 36 pounds now....

My son is 6 1/2 and is dieing for a pet of his own. One he can take care of (must be low maintanence), train easily, play with and that will sleep with him. Of course, he's by his dad most weekends so I will share the training, playing duties so this may be a tall order. He would love a cat but I am not really a fan, and Zeus would have a cat for breakfast so it's not an option as long as Zeus is here. Any thoughts?

Oh, here's a little lady I've been keeping my eye on:

Ah.... Lucy is beautiful. I hope they get that knee fixed and she finds a great home.

Here's a pic of my rescue. She has a feeding tube in and is finally gaining weight after some pretty severe damage to the left side of her face and a right jaw fracture. She may end up losing that beautiful left eye -- it isn't visual, and is now getting uclers on it b/c she cannot blink. She is so sweet and happy and friendly! I just love her! Can't wait for her to be a regular kitty!
