Ride a bike a day keeps obesity away

ROFL - so I had to wear arm warmers this morning coz the temp was only 60 degrees! brrrrr LOL

Yup, I surely am planning on commuting to work this winter just like last. I may have to switch to the bike trial for my winter commute, stay off the streets coz New Mexicans have NOT got a clue how to drive in the winter, and I'll probably switch to the commuter bike or the MTB so I have the wider tires but I'm planning on commuting. I did it a few times in the snow last year and used the same rules as driving: try to ride on the snow if possible, stay off the ice which includes any previous "tracks" since they'll melt and ice up again, take longer to brake, and just ride slower.

Are any of you gals going to keep riding this winter? I know Corsair will - anyone else?

i'll keep riding.. but not commuting... sorry.. i don't do the commute thing.. i get myself dressed at home and drive to work with heat and heated seats in the winter and a/c in the summer!

however i will continue my after work rides as long as practical and definitely do my weekend rides!

Thanks for the welcome, I'm glad that I found this forum as well as Bike Journal. I'm hoping that the scales start moving again soon, but as long as I can see results, I can deal with it.

Just remember muscle weighs more than fat so even if the scales aren't moving or maybe moving in the wrong direction, it doesn't mean you aren't losing hun! and with winter coming we all may go up some in weight - I think of it as my hibernation weight! If we just keep riding: commute, trainers, whatever, next spring the weight will come off faster and easier!

Thanks Corsair, I'm hoping its a nicer winter this year also. Hope you know I'm just yuckin with you. I actually enjoy our winter doldrom banter. Oh by the way, I know a Corsair is an airplane, but where does the name come from, curious minds want to know?

and I know ya are hun - ya'll had me in giggles last winter when I just could NOt resist letting ya'll know just how wonderful it was here while it was miserable there! I lived in Indpls for over 30 yrs....I remember those hideous winters! and remember what happened to me last winter??......those doggone weathers gods Dumped on my poor little ol city for picking on you eastern girls so cruelly!! (not that it's gonna stop me of course but................)

as for the name:

Corsair: F4-U Corsair flown by the Marines in the Pacific theater during WWII then picked up by the Navy and flown until about 1952 or so. I've always loved the look of the plane, my dad was flight enigneer for the last Corsair outfit in the Navy, and I've got a soft spot in my heart for the Black Sheep Squadron.

Mac: part of my 15 letter long last name! It's funny, I"m so used to ppl shortening my names (total letters first and last: 21) it's just normal for me to see shorthand versions of any of my names real or user!

Wellll, yes I read the getting to know you, but that was when you first started the thread and I just never went back to check. Hubby and I use to fly a veri eze airplane and my brother was a Navy pilot and my dad loaded bombs on B-17 Bombers in Korea, so I was curious.
