    hip pain

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Ive been riding a year, with no previous hip probs. Im 40 and take lots of antioxidants etc. I stand all day on concrete.
I have stepped up workouts to every other day,or every day at least 20 min and 28 km rides on weekends( not long as I am recovering from chronic viral illness, so thats far for me!)
I noticed that my hip, seem to click out of place and cause pain walking until I can 'pop' it into place by shaking it or having someone pull my leg gently.
Any idea whats causing it? Its not serious but annoying.

I am not sure, maybe your hip flexor muscles need a good stretching with the more workouts?

    That was exactly my problem.
Your hip flexors are so tight they aren't gliding , they're catching until they pop into place.

When you sit and move your thigh side to side do you hear a clicking?

It could get to a point (and may already be there) where all the self-stretching in the world won't help. You probably need some PT.

I had some hip issues when I used to run, then last fall I had an inside hip issue - almost like appendicitis (ruled out) pain that was terrible. I posted here, got some good advice, went to my doc, had an ultrasound, and doc said it was probably my hip flexor. I went to a health day where there was a chiropractor and he went "snap snap snap" and gave me a diagram with some stretches.

    No more pain.
I can do five more miles.

I had the same thing and it got so painful that I could not sit down and walking was very painful. I went to a chiropractor and that really helped. I went to him for over a year because it was so bad. I started out at 3 times per week and ended up going once a month. When I moved, I stopped going.

I also started Pilates at that time on the recommendation of my chiropractor. That helps immensely with stretching and strengthening my core so that I can support my skeleton better.
