We'll be there. I know nothing of campsites. DH made hotel reservations a while ago.

If you've not done El Tour yet you're going to love it! I'm so jealous!!
I have only a couple of campsites that I know one is in Mariana which is a far distance from the start of the race the other is across town again a far distance from the start. I assume of course the start is downtown as usual??
Here is a link which may help you:

I suggest you use Mapquest® to locate where the campgrounds are and how far from the start of the race. It's a madhouse race morning, you really don't want to deal with the traffic getting there.
Besides staying in the Hotel right at the start line one year my next best year was staying about 3 miles away at my son's house and me and my gal friends rode in early for the start, that was pretty smooth going.
Good luck it's a fun event!

Lisa I just remembered this site for El Tour the PBAA site has a forum where you can probably ask about camp sites and get some of the locals to give you really good information. Here is the url of the forum:

Again hope this helps!

Last year some of my friends actually camped in the parking lot near the start of the ride! I'll be staying in a hotel this year. It was only $77/night, and a nice shower and bed is worth it!
