    Burning Rubber

The rides this weekend have really just been toodling around - 12 miles yesterday and then to church/lunch/home this morning. Except we went wandering in the neighborhood looking for the overpass to get us to lunch. "Let's turn right here," says the DH up in front. So we go wending around a little curve and then start down a hill. A steep hill. Sniff, sniff. "what's that?" "Oh, nothing, just burning a little rubber with the brakes..." I allowed as how I'd prefer not to do that next time. The ride home did not involve that street. And he assures me that all the tires and various and sundry parts are just fine. All I know from burning rubber is things like belts breaking, which is never good. Hope everyone had good rides this weekend!

If the wheel was hot enough to burn rubber, it may have been hot enough to cause a blow out as well.
