Talking Seagull to be my first Century

Hi all. I am new to this sport. I am 51 and bought my road bike in June of this year. Prior to this bike (a Cannondale Synopse) I had a K-Mart Huffy. I joined a local club and showed up with the Huffy....that is how I got my road bike and began riding.

At any rate, at the time of the bike purchase I heard people talking about this great century ride in MD in Oct. I went home, looked it up and registered for it! Well, now it is around the corner and I am getting extremely excited/nervous etc.

Can anyone give me advice for my first century, what to eat & drink, when to eat, suppliments to take, what to carry with me on the bike?

Also, if anyone has done that ride can you tell me what to expect? Flat I hear (hope). How is the wind?

Thanks so much for the input. I just stumbled upon this site and have read some great stuff so far.

Jeanne, check down in the Mid-Atlantic forum. There are several people riding the Seagull this year.

When you're on the main TE forms page, scroll down to the bottom. There are different geographic areas listed. Here's the mid-Atlantic forum.

    And here's the Seagull thread.
