Of all the things to keep me from racing this weekend . . .

I have a stye. In my eye. A bad one. My right eye is nearly swollen shut. And I can't wear my contacts.

And everyone asks, why not wear glasses? Apparently no one else has this problem. But my eyes get really tired when I wear them. I get headaches, feel confused and tired. I've had the prescription checked and they are correct. I think it's from my eyes trying to compensate for the area that the glasses do not correct, like my peripheral vision. I really don't want to feel tired and confused on a long, technical, hilly mountain bike race. That's a crash with injury waiting to happen.

I'm going to apply hot compresses on it non-stop from now 'til Sunday. Use the antibiotics that the doc gave me. And hopefully, fingers crossed, the puffiness will go down enough so that, come Sunday, I can pop in my contacts for the race then quick pop them out . . . like it never happened. I hope, I hope, I hope.

That sucks. I hate having eye problems.

Hope it heals. Good vibes your way!!
