    expired Clif Bloks?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I'm going for a ride and am set on taking Bloks. Unfortunately, I just noticed that mine expired a month ago (I bought in bulk awhile ago). I'm cheap and don't have plans to go to the LBS today. How bad would it be to use them? I still have several packages. How bad can they go? My BF is disgusted by the idea that I would eat something expired- I think it'll be fine. Anyone know for sure?

    Thanks!!

I'd eat them. I can't imagine that they'd spoil the way milk would....

I've eaten plenty of expired power bars, etc. I'm sure it will be fine.

    The horror!

You'd better mail them to me right away, especially if they're the margarita w/extra salt kind.

Thanks ladies! I went ahead and ate one just to show him I could handle it- it seems fine, not sick yet. It's funny how different he and I are about these things. I'm off for a ride. Sorry Zen, I think I'll keep them, but thanks for looking out for me!

    One month? Only one month??

    They're fine.
I buy Clif Bloks in orders of multiple cases at a time. Sometimes they expire by the time I get to the last of them. No problem.

(now, if they're furry and the baggie is bloated....mail 'em to Zen)

I'd worry if they were 2 years expired. They get hard and loose flavor but they still won't hurt you. Ask me how I know.

Hopefully, I'll work my way through these before they get fuzzy. If not, Zen has dibs.

What's really depressing is that it has been so long since I've been on a ride long enough to need the bloks. I had better get myself back in gear!

We were at a LBS today and picked up one packet of Clif blocs to try since we will be taking longer rides this week - and the avg. temp will be 91. What type of distances are we talking for including the blocs? Up to this point our training rides have all been under 20 mi. and we have managed to get by with just the regular Clif bars, fruit, Gatorade and water. Do you all have any other recommendations for hydration/food on training rides? I have seen plenty of ideas when doing centuries, etc., but not too much for training ride nutrition. Thanks in advance.
