dog vs cyclist on MS training ride

Reader's Diagest version: while on an MS training ride, a retired colleague of mine was hit by a dog, and then hit the pavement HARD. Yes, the dog hit him (and the owner was cited).

Update: Sometime yesterday afternoon Joey was transferred from the local hospital where the accident occurred to a hospital closer to home and where his Orthopedic Surgeon. Last night he had surgery for the fractured upper femor or hip (I'm not quite sure where the break was specifically). Anyway he's had a titanium rod inserted, is on nice pain killers and will be in the hospital a few more days. I'll go check on him this afternoon.
