checking in - been away for a while

Hi everyone, I thought I'd check in with finally some decent news. I've stayed away since I didn't believe I had anything much to contribute, plus I no longer have daytime access to the computer so my time has been stretched kind of thin.
I thought I'd let those of you who might not be on bikejournal.com's forum know that I'm finally after a year and a half back in the saddle. I started taking real short rides in the neighbourhood the beginning of June and just this week, I had my first 11 mile ride (1 hour 18 minutes and some change) since my back injury in Nov '06 and knee injury Dec '07. I'm hoping to stretch my ride out of my backyard very soon and possibly get back to the might Monon again and beyond.
It feels great to be back on the road

    Welcome back, Mary!!

Can't wait to hear about your progress as your rides become longer and longer and longer and longer still over the summer.

I know I missed hearing from you! Your encouragement got me through a tough time. Welcome back! and welcome back to your bike - isn't it sweet how they just patiently hang around until we can ride - not so much as a sigh of complaint, just "okay, let's go!"

I am glad you are back. I too had a back injury back in 2000 which took me away from biking close to 2 years. Keep up the good work and I Know what you mean when you say it feels great to be back in the sadle again. 11 miles is GREAT!!!

Thanks everyone, I didn't ride today as we had rain and family obligations, but I may venture out further tomorrow. It's supposed to be nice and I really want to see something more than my neighbourhood again. Need to give my water bottles an extra good washing since they've not been used for a while.
