Pair of sandals for after? I h8 wearing sneakers for more than I absolutely have too.
I usually bring a spare pair of goggles, someone always forgets and it's nice to spread the love.
Don't forget suntan lotion!

Here's what I think I need. What have I forgotten?
Wearing: Oh so cute tri outfit (it makes me look like a sausage... )and heart rate monitor.
Swim: Cap, goggles, wetsuit
T1: Bike with second HRM on it, helmet, gloves, shoes, socks, sunglasses, water bottles, food
2 towels, water bottle for cleaning feet
T2: Running shoes, visor, food, water bottle
Change of clothes for after.
It sounded like so much more in my head.

I was told to bring two pairs of goggles just for me with one pair being shaded and the other pair being clear. Just in case.
Oh, and Body Glide![]()
I have not done my first race yet, but I have heard baby powder on the feet after the swim makes it easier to get socks/shoes on.
Tomorrow I'm doing a tri for fun. It's a 400 yard swim, 12 mile bike, 3 mile run. I probably don't "need" to eat but I plan to anyway to see how it goes.
The whole point of tomorrow's race and a Tri for Real (Olympic distance) I'm doing in July is to work through the transitions. Doing them in my garage or out of the back of my car, isn't quite the same as doing them for real I suspect. It's all about getting me ready for a HIM Aug. 2.
V.
For a short race, looks good.
For your HIM... put a bottle of spray sunblock in the transitions. Spray it on in T1 and T2.
Good luck!

BR milkshake for afterwards.![]()
Here are a few links to some race day checklists. I always print one out and check things off so I don't forget anything.

I second the spray sunblock and bodyglide. And would add race belt and I believe you have a strap for your timing chip too. So bring those.

A dorky question about body glide...
I've only worn my wesuit once. I swam 1500 yards in the pool and it didn't chafe anywhere.
What else might I want bodyglide for?
And thanks for all the replies. I'm adding all the stuff I forgot to my list.
V.
Well...I suppose you've done enough running and swimming so if you were going to have problems, you would? Anyway I use it for:
Wetsuit chafing on the back of my neck
On my ankles to slide my wetsuit on and off easier (but I've seen some use Pam)
On my feet if I'm starting to get rubbing or that blister feeling
On my workout top/bra if there's rubby spots
On my legs where they rub if I'm wearing shorts and it is getting irritated
It's good stuff. I was just out on a run and started getting a raw spot on my inner upper arm. I had no bodyglide with me so I used lip balm instead. It got me by but bodyglide would've been better![]()
Ooh, another question about bodyglide. I bought some at the race expo today b/c I've been getting a raw spot rubbed on my ankle from the tongue of my cycling shoes. I know they say don't do anything new on race day, but I figure it's just a little bodyglide.
Anyway, for the question, does it go on easy when your skin is wet? I'd put it on after the swim and am wondering if the lube would not roll onto the skin if it's wet. Should I put it on before the swim?
Thanks!
K.
Re: powder and socks
When I'm setting up my transition area I dump some powder into my socks and then shake it around. I then fold the sock back on itself so I can more easily slip my damp feet in. IMHO, you don't want to deal with applying the powder during transition if you can avoid it. It has worked like a charm for me, excepting that time I tried to put one sock on upside down![]()
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

Kimmyt - I put my body glide on before my swim in all the appropriate places and it stays there. The only time I reapply is at Ironman in which case I sometimes need a spruce up before the run.
