    My NEW Bike!!

    I Did It!!!!!!!!!

I am soooo excited!! I went to my LBS to test the Ruby Elite again yesterday. Went out for about 1.5 hrs on some of my same roads. Wow, she is so light and fast!! On the way back to the shop I said to myself..."I deserve this for ME!!" Since my divorce, it has been hectic at times and the biking is my only solace and fun........soooo....I BOUGHT my new Ruby!!
It was a great fit...although I know my saddle may be an issue. I will ride a few times and measure my butt! They have an open saddle policy to be sure what I have is the best it can feel.

You guys have helped so much!! Thanks for all the advice...things to ask about...ways to test...bikes to consider.
my biggest fear was buying too much bike. But, I flew today and the hills that usually leave me out of breath were not the killers while on my wide tired Mongoose!

    A very happy chic!! Jean

OOOO, the Ruby Elite! I test rode the comp and LOVED it, but it was just out of my budget. I'm sure the Elite is even better!

Congratulations on your new ride. You will NEVER regret buying it. And what is "too much bike"? With this bike you will be doing even more cycling and the bike will take you anywhere you want to go.

    Well Deserved!

Great choice. A small price to pay for fun and fitness. I have a Ruby Comp and enjoy it every time I ride. We all deserve to treat ourselves especially when we are doing something so good for our health.

pics are on there way soon!

Thanks everyone! I absolutely love this bike! I QUICKLY got over the guilty "spent too much money" issues...I never spend on me, at least not routinely. I try to ride daily even if it a short one. My lungs are improving and I have to say this Ruby is fast!! She sits in my livingroom when I am not riding...ooohhh, so pretty! I did not have shorts and will ride in a few hours with a friend so I am off to the LBS as they actually had Pearl Isumi on sale! Looks like a lot of TE women like them. Does anyone like Cannondale shorts?

I like Cannondale shorts, but the women's pairs I've had didn't last long. The foam in the chamois ripped in less than a year. Plus, I've moved on to bibs. Still, I thought they were very comfy while they lasted. They are cut lower in the front, so I can breathe well (for shorts), and the chamois was really comfy. I think I had the Surpass model, or one similar.

Thanks. Trying to save a little bit and maybe purchase the possible best fit the first time!

I was sooo proud of myself today!! Actually road the furthest I have ever done...at 40 miles!! It felt great on the new bike until sweating in the 94 degree heat wearing only spandex yoga shorts...new saddle...chaffing!
(silly of me!! I have only had the bike since Saturday!! My other bike I never wore bike shorts because the seat was so wide...so I don't own them... YET!!)

Tomorrow...something comes between me and the bike! The mileage was unexpected. A friend (old BF at one point, fabulous cyclist) emailed me to ask about an easy ride...flats and rolling hills. (he saw me on the Ruby and heard from the LBS we go to...) I jumped at the opportunity as he knows so many beautiful places in the area. When I got home tonight...I had done the 40!! My tush is a bit red...but overall I feel great. One hill about KILLED me!! I stood...I spinned...I walked. I am not proud. It was feekin straight UP!!! He warned me but knowing he likes hills I said I would go for it and I did. All OK...again, it was a challenge and I made it half way!!

I am tired and off to bed. A "good" tired...
What a great ride! My life is changing and I am stronger!
