I am a wiz at getting topics off track at work as well.

I love The Muppet Christmas Carol.

When I was a University student, we successfully voted in Elsie Jersey as homecoming queen. Those lovely brown eyes had us mesmerized.

Of course some spoil sports figured it out, and named the second runner up as Queen. Elsie went back to her pasture. Rumor had it that Homecoming Queen was NOT amused that she came in second to a cow. No where on the form did it say that the candidate had to be human.

Being an elected official, I get my share of politics in my everyday life. Cycling is the one part of my life where I am me, not "oh look there's our elected official". So you won't hear any politics from me

The Muppet Christmas Carol is my favorite version of the Dicken's classic, followed closely by the George C. Scott version. . .

I usually prefer versions that stick to Dickens' telling of the tale. The Muppets takes a few liberties. Everybody sing, "We're Marley and Marley..." But it's fun.

The Patrick Stewart version has become one of my favorites because it really follows what Dickens wrote.

On topic yet off topic yet politics yet no party line yet cycling related so we can all happily discuss yet no Muppets involved (doesn't Kermit ride a bike?) .....

I get e-mails from time to time about the transportation initiative where there's a proposal that they "pay us to ride" or make it tax deductible or sumthin'.

I'm all for that but .... how would they tell I rode?

Is it on the honor system but if I'm audited do they follow me "yes, she rides! Quite well but slow". Does the IRS check my bikejournal miles (subtracting indoor miles)? Is wool deductible?

Fair enough. Lord knows we sure don't seem to care about anyone else's elections.

Black Adder's is good too. That and Terry Pratchett's Hogfather are definite highlights of Christmas.
