My grandmother always named her dogs Lady or King.

How about Lucy? Like, I Love Lucy.

My newest dog came with that name (she'd only had it one day), and I kept it. I fits her, because her last name is Clueless (but only when she acts that way). Part Golden Retriever and part some kind of wiry terrier, she's quite a mix. Has some of the best traits of a golden (obedience), and the WORST traits of a terrier (digging!).

Just checking back in with this thread.

I'm so so so sorry for your loss, diving biker--that's never an easy choice to make, but in your heart, you know it was the right one for your Remy.

And now you're giving a happy "senior-hood" to another dog--what a great boon to dogdom! BTW, Tuckervill's idea for a name--Lucy--seems like a cool choice. Congrats to you and Judy/Lucy/Lady/? for finding each other.

Oh, DB...she's a doll. And wonderful of you to adopt a "senior" dog.
I have no recommendations for names...I'm horrible at that stuff.
I know you'll come with something that suits her.
And extra cuddles to Bailey. Will the adoption agency provide help with bonding? I know with rabbits, they often benefit from going on a "bunnymoon" together - somewhere in neutral territory to make friends. Don't know if dogs are the same...

I'm new to the board and would like to introduce our mestizo (mixed) pup Pascua who is now 2 years and 6 months. He's a rescue, adopted him at around 3 months. We were told he was a Keeshond but he had huge paws and ears and we knew he'd be a big boy. He weighs 92 lbs now. We think he's tibetan mastiff, husky mix. Some people guess malamute, shepherd, akita, chow. He keeps growing so that's why we think he might be part tibetan mastiff and he shares a lot of the breed characteristics. Oh and we did a genetic test for fun and it gave us a big laugh. They didn't have enough breeds "validated" - no primary breed came up but 2 secondary breeds were - husky and wait for it... scottish terrier!! Pascua and us (mom & dad) - we're a looong work in progress - working on his fear aggression issues. But mainly he is a fun and funny dog. lots of personality. We also have two cats I'll post about later. They'd want their own space.

Thanks KathiCville! ya his cuteness works in his favor. we're still smitten - he looks at us and we know he's worth the work it takes to raise him. couldn't resist another photo from our snow trip - when he crashed into my knee playing in the snow.

Wow, Pascua is a big puppy...the last shot really gives him some perspective. I love the shot of him with your bike shoes...like saying, "these are mine, but I could use another pair"....

    Cancer Sucks

With more saddness than I thought i could feel, I watched Brodie take her last breath today. I wished at that moment that I could take mine as well. Numbness all day. Breast cancer finally filled her body and won. There will never be another soul like hers. Thank you all for your support through her illness.

aw, Sorry Invisiblewoman, I'm glad you had all that extra time with her, but it sounds like there's going to be a big big space in your life without her.

I am very sorry for your loss of sweet Brodie, invsblwmn.

Losing a beloved pet absolutely sucks.

Be kind to yourself, and take the time you need to grieve.

    Betsy

This is our Bagel (Beagle-Bassett). Her name is Betsy and she's by far the greatest pet we've ever had. Gentle, loving and very spoiled.

My heart goes out to you as you had to let go of Brodie today. Big hugs to you as she crosses over the Rainbow Bridge.
