Expecting you to cycle all the time

You know...There is the odd day or so, I just don't feel like cycling or there's something planned that I can't accommodate cycling, so I don't cycle.

then folks who know I cycle...well, make a comment...and "..come on, get on the bike'.

Sometimes, I just have to ignore the little nagging voice.

I have lots of days like that. Some of it is recovery. Some of it is just having a life. We didn't cycle today, but we did get the doors on our IKEA Pax wardrobes, and put some of the baskets in. The dressing room is coming together. Tomorrow night is Time Trial, then we can put the clothes rods in one of the Pax cabinets. Life goes on. Be nice to yourself.

    tease

I was known as the crazycyclist at my previous workplace..

My workmates used to know my swim/bike schedule & often say "oh yes, you're not cycling today are you.."

I'm not as crazy as i was.. I used to do 240km/wk...now i'm only doing 130km/wk just because i want to be nice to my knee and body plus be sensible for now...

I ride daily because it is how I get to work. But there are so many days I would love to take a ride just for fun, and it doesn't happen because I mowed the yard, drove my daughter to practice/lesson/other, drove out of town to visit a relative in the hospital or attend some family event or _______. I guess I don't hear any inner or outer nagging voices, I'm just wistful that I haven't gotten in a decent ride in ages, particularly with the weather as nice as it's been.

Now that I'm nearly unemployed and homeless maybe I'll have all sorts of time for that long ride. (I'm joking. Mostly.) In fact I might end up selling the car and all my possessions for food, and piling my husband and daughter on the bike trailer and carting them to Geonz's place to oust (or join) her squatters. (Still joking. Mostly.)

Kinda my story. I don't feel right if I haven't ridden. Voices tell me other stuff, good & bad I did take a day off in January so that I wouldn't be in danger of obsessing about getting in a full year of riding every day, and there were days at the conference... but basically riding isn't a "thing I have to do" - it's part of living and breathing.

I get that voice about going to the gym. Since I'm in Toronto until early May I have the "but my nice road bike is at home and riding alone in the city on my commuter bike annoyiiiing" excuse. Usually my get-out-and-ride voice beats that one down though. Don't ride when you don't feel like it- it makes the times you do more fun (unless it's weeks in between).

See, that's why I like to mix it up. If I don't feel like riding I run - if I don't feel like running I do aerobics - if I don't feel like aerobics I do pilates.

I get that feeling sometimes too. I occasionally push through it and ride, but mostly I either run, depending upon how tired I am. Sometimes if I push myself too much and ignore the "voices" the riding starts to feel like a job which takes the fun out of it.

    Hehehehe... mine doesn't listen either

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
    "I will try again tomorrow".
