I was a serious coffee drinker for years. I started drinking coffee when I was 4 years old (so that means I was a coffee drinker for 35 years)! Yes, that's right. In my south Louisiana family, kids got cafe au lait for breakfast. But your doc is right, one day I just lost my taste for it. Gone. I didn't even want it. I've had it a few times since 2006, and it really put me on edge. One time I was bad buzzed for the entire day, and I couldn't sleep that night. It was horrible!

I do drink tea, which does have caffeine, but it seems gentler. And if I don't have my tea in the morning for some reason, it's okay. I don't get psycho or headaches. And tea still has the ritual of coffee. I collect teapots!

Regarding weight loss, I know I wasn't honest with myself about the calories packed into my morning Starbucks ritual. I was commuting 28 mile round trip, but most of that was replaced with just my coffee and cake. So even with alot of exercise, I wasn't losing weight.

Same for me. When I drink caffeinated coffee now my stomach goes insane and I get headaches. It's not pleasant. Now I don't know how my stomach got used to it in the first place. The caffeine helped me survive university, though! The only thing I do miss is a really delicious cup of coffee. Some decaf tastes pretty good but I have yet to find one that I absolutely love.

On the weight loss front: I have to say I feel like I'm having a good week. I had a long trainer ride last night that made me feel really productive (despite the major pain my saddle caused me) and I've been eating well. Even if I don't lose this week I feel pretty good. But I hope I end up with a loss.

I did back-to-back spin classes tonight. at one point my legs were just jelly and I was wondering how I would make it to the parking lot.

So I weighed myself before and after.

ZEN: That's hilarious. I've done similar. Makes no sense at all. I don't REALLY believe scales all the time! I gained 2 lb sleeping the other night. MAYBE... I sleep walk and eat? Hmmm. I'd like to think that if I am up at night, I'd do something more useful!

148.6 That's it! I'm getting out the old paper and pencil and writing down what I eat.

Only up .2 but enough that I have to get serious.

Otherwise it was a good week, I was expecting a loss, and I'm not too upset about it.

Hope everyone had an awesome week!

155 again - my body just loves to hang out here.

I gained while in Hawaii - musta been the coconut ice cream and macadamia nuts. No regrets whatsoever - Back to the cardboard food and sweat.

Hello everybody! I am going to bow out of this weight loss challenge.

My head is just not in the right place for it right now...so I am going to do MyFoodDiary.com for awhile and focus on taking a look at nutrition vs. losing weight.

I might be back if there is a new challenge later on. Continued well wishes to all!

That's the best approach for a long-term healthy life and weight, IMO. Eat an apple every day!

Thanks. I don't have good emotional health about food. I do need to lose weight still for good health and biking...but I need a little different focus to get my head back to a better place about it all. Thanks for the encouragement!

    What the...?

OK... down to the 170 earlier in week, but back to 172.5 today. How does that happen so quickly??? It's called cockiness... "look how much weight I lost!" Yeah, yeah... I guess back to the grindstone!

And cut back on the lattees.... I checked.. my Grande Non fat Carmel Macchiato's are 190 calories. I'll have to go to Nonfat Lattees and save the CM's for treats. I can do it!

Starfish: Let us know how the diary goes. I've considered it before but the time seemed overwhelming (I was writing it all down and looking up calories, though). Sounds like a very reasonable way to go about everything. I'll have to cruise the website and see what they offer.

Flybye: Welcome back - you're right... You should never regret weight gained on a vacation -- they are all worth every calorie!

I'm kind of in a similar place to Starfish, but I'm going to go about this a bit differently. I *almost* decided to just disappear from this challenge after weighing myself today, but I'm not going to do that as I don't think it'll help me. I don't know why I'm having such issues, but I do know what to do to change it.

I'm embarassed, but here it is: 167.8 Up 2.3 from last week!! I'm not sure exactly why and it could be TTOM, but still...that's not pretty.

I'm committing to changing this trend: I joined MyFoodDiary.com and I'm tracking everything again (it's quick and easy!). I just started yesterday, so my hope is that by next week my weight will be going the right direction. Since I joined the last challenge (and continued with this one) I've gained like 7 lbs. Totally going the wrong way, right? Duh! I've also got DH on board with me to get back in shape. We've both become sloth-like...and that's just not acceptable.

I know I'm not contributing anything beneficial to this challenge right now, but I do think that keeping myself accountable here is going to help me reverse this trend. Honesty can be painful...but at the moment, I think it's what I need. Thanks to all of you for putting up with me!

I am at 130 today. I got a little cocky this week as well. I was at 128 earlier in the week so I ate like a pig.

Well, I am going between 148 and 149. I think my body just prefers to be there. I do keep a food journal which keeps me in line.
