hey Country Girl, we rarely have those kinds of headwinds in the city! You live in HEADWINDS COUNTRY!
I'd be terrified to ride in that kind of weather.

REAL BIG HEADWIND!!I had a nice group ride today and got to try out my new bike, but OMG the headwinds going over the 205 and east up the Columbia Gorge were so bad. Add the semi's flying past you and you get kind of trapped in this awful wind tunnel scary stuff. I won't do that ride again...I'm a country girl, not an urban rider
BUT! The weather was so beautiful again. From one point at the top of the 5 freeway we could see Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, and of course Mt. Hood all snow capped against a beautiful blue sky. The tailwinds coming back made up for the cold scary trek out there
30 something miles, I don't have a computer on the new bike yet.

All you need is a sail on your bike and you're good to go.![]()
Seriously, I would have joined the ppl wind surfing down at Hood River in no time if I had a sail.

I hate riding crosswind just as much. The ones where you have to ride at an angle to go straight and upright.
That's how it is on the coast. Either headwind or crosswind and if you THINK you're going to get a break on the return, uh uh...wind shifts!
Embrace it. It will make you stronger Ticia!![]()
Crosswinds scare me, trucks do too.

I'm changing my perspective Brandy, you would be proud. The whole way out this guy was telling/warning me how terrible the headwinds can be and I just kept saying...it will make us stronger. We will embrace the hills and headwinds and be stronger because of them...then we can thank mother nature
I kept saying it to myself and when we hit them I thought: OMG I'm going to get blown into traffic and leave 3 children Mommy-less. I was so skeered. I can deal with the wind, it was the fast flying traffic that I can get weak over
Starfish, we all kept happy and making jokes over the idea of the winds "shifting"...thank goodness they wanted to just blow East to West for the morning. Thank you kind wind![]()
