    From catscratching.com

Declawing is an irreversible surgical procedure that involves amputating the last joint of the cat's "toes."... (Imagine having the last joint of your own fingers amputated. Not a pleasant idea.)...
Some cats develop an aversion to their litter box because of the pain associated with scratching in the litter after a declawing procedure.

+1 what Lisa said. The quality of the scratching post makes a huge difference. We got a couple of tall ones, one carpet and one sisal and the cats love them.

Again...thanks to everyone for the great responses on the Soft Claws. I'll give them a try! Honestly, I'm surprised to hear so many great things about them - I thought for sure that they were more gimmick than go! Excellent.

I'll be sure to update y'all on her reaction!
