Actually, I didn't even run today--had a 10-hour clinical day so just wasn't able to fit it in. I just saw that nobody had started the thread yet!

4 km in the snow yesterday, another perhaps 7 today? We'll see what the new running partner has in store. It's rest week anyway so I hope she's not thinking anything hard!

I've been running outside on Sundays--usually about three miles--with a group of friends since early January and doing run/walk intervals twice a week after spinning at the Y. After a few more or less "successful" weeks of this, I started to feel like the intervals causing a bit of a mental block. My friends motivate me to run without stopping, but when left to my own devices, it's harder to keep at it, especially when that speed button on the treadmill is glaring at me.

Last night, I challenged myself to run on the treadmill for as long as I could without stopping. I made it to 19 minutes before slowing to a walk for about 50 seconds. Then I ran for another 6 minutes before the tornado sirens (we had some really crazy weather last night) sounded and we had to take shelter. All in all, I'm pleased that I got over that hump.

Yikes! That is one thing we don't have to worry too much about in this part of the country. At least you weren't running outside when the sirens went off--that would be scary!

Seriously. At least four people died last night in southern Indiana. One town west of Indianapolis reported winds in excess of 80 mph. It was pretty intense.

Shoe shopping yesterday. I hope I didn't make a mistake going to a slightly less stable shoe. My arches hurt last night, this morning and after my run today. The good news is that my heels/Achilles don't hurt

Four miles for me this morning - earlier than I usually go, so I got to watch the seniors doing T'ai Chi on the beach, always an inspiration. It was a really beautiful day (aside from a bunch of dead rays washed up on the sand, which at least was interesting since it was something I hadn't seen before ). It was my first run since the 5K on Saturday (active rest Sunday, aerobics Monday and yesterday) and my legs were kind of sore, but I kept up a reasonable pace.

The reason I did my run early is because I was taking advantage of my last Christmas present: a SPA DAY! I got pampered from head to toe.

8 miles today!!! I'm surprised I did it. It was outside and about 37 degrees. My second set of hills were kind of difficult and after a while my ankles hurt (heck, everything hurt) but it was liveable. I have my cycling recovery drink stuff at home so I had that after I ran. I figured I'm getting up to long enough where a recovery drink might be beneficial.

I was playing leapfrog with the trash people They'd drive and pass me then would stop to load their truck and I'd pass them. It made me be honest and not walk because I would've felt foolish. They were nice.

I was amazed that how sweaty my hair got in 37 degree temperature. You'd think that would be too cold to sweat. Go figure.

3.25 miles on the treadmill. It's looking so warm this weekend in NC, I will finally be able to run outside!

You're right -- I remember one difficult uphill switchback hike my DH and I did in the North Georgia mountains a couple of years ago. There were several inches of snow on the ground, and it was chilly. We were having to rush to beat the park closing time, and I was dying since our pace (and lack of resting) was a bit more than I could handle (no problem for DH). I don't know what the temp was, but no higher than 37. I remember well that I was sweating like a pig -- scalp and body. I think it's the humidity not allowing the sweat to evaporate faster than you generate it. Hiking in the desert southwest, I didn't sense sweating much at all with temperatures in the 80s! Gotta love that dry air.

4.1 in my old shoes today, just to get back to baseline before I try the new ones again. No dead stingrays on the beach today, but one used condom which was surprising because it's usually really clean.

Eight miles? Good for you. I'm lucky to do 3.

I ran again last night--another 25 minutes or so on the treadmill. From there, I went to spinning and as I was taking my cycling shoes off after class, my calf cramped up something terrible. It still kind of hurts. I'm wondering if it's from the running and/or dehydration.

Did a half-hour trail run today; it was a nice change from the neighborhood but there was a fair amount of ice on the trail so had to be careful to avoid it.

Indy, might be that but maybe it's switching one sport to the other back-to-back? I know in tri training it takes a while to get used to it. Or, could be dehydration too.

I ran 3 miles today. After I do 3.5 miles tomorrow, it'll be 22 for the week! Saturday's a rest day and sunday is swimming. My goal is to reduce my run days from 5 to 4, I don't think 5 days is healthy. At least my legs don't think it is! I just have to get my mileage up enough so I don't have a drop in weekly mileage.
