    Happy Australia Day Aussie ladies

I hope your long weekend is safe & fun! Don't forget the sunscreen and keep hydrated.

Ian & I are just having a quiet day @ home as there's no way i'm about to share my weekend with a bunch (well actually alot more than that.!!!) of drunk yobbos on the Perth foreshore. I also want to ensure Yukon feels safe with all the fireworks.

I saw this gem in the WestAustralian (WA's crap newspaper) Magazine and sum up Aussies quite well:

YOu know all the words to "Land Down Under" but can't remember the words to "Advance Australia Fair"

You can name every Australian Cricket captain in the history of the game but would struggle to itentify the Gov General

You've told an American that we actually ride kangaroos everywhere..

you think Boxing Day was named after the Boxing day test

    Enjoy the long weekend !

It's Auckland aniversary weekend here ya monday off work and we're going kayaking round the local bays..... I managed two good rides Saturday & Sunday....

Will be needing plenty of suntan lotion here too...........i think Auckland is as dry and burn out as the Ozzie outback

Hope your holidays are wonderful ladies!!!

You mean you DON'T ride kangaroos everywhere? And I know all the words to "Land Down Under," can I be an honorary Aussie? I really, really want to come visit your beautiful homeland one day.

Kangaroos are wonderful to look at until...
A-You run into one whilst driving..Def not something you want!!!! The worst time for this would be early in the morning or just before dusk...
B-You run into one when biking
C-They use you as a punching bag..Big Reds will!!!

We have such wonderful wildlife here..Tiger Snakes, Dugites, Scorpions, White Tails, Red Backs, Irukanji Jellyfish...

I love teasing tourists...Not all of them fall for the hoop snake..

    Tri girl..come on down...

    roo

Sstar-Well, if you run into a roo a few things can happen..This all depends on the speed you''re travelling, how the roo hits your car etc etc.

1-Nothing. You're shaken up & the roo hops into the bushes back to the bush
2-A bit of damage to your car-again depending on where the roo hit..and possibly some to you.
2-Death to you & the roo.

Just because they're "cute" doesn't mean they won't hurt you!!! They move freakin FAST and they're BIG!!!!

We often see roos while mtn biking. I've had a few zoom accross my path at night on the trail Even during the day @ one of our fave mtn biking spots, they're in the bushes one moment and the next there's just a bunch of pea gravel dust.

Other times on the trail they just stare at you!

I guess your roo woes are much like our deer woes here. They're fast and sneaky critters- and they'll be out in the road before you know they're there. I've never hit one, but have come pretty close (one lept a tall fence and went over my hood as I'm driving along on the highway ).
Funny to hear roo tales- just different creatures in different parts of the world that we're all dealing with.
