Any riders in Sac'to?

I'm a near-native Seattle-ite (I don't talk about the part of my life spent in L.A. ), and I am considering moving to Sacramento for a really really really cool once-in-a-lifetime job opportunity. They won't know about funding until the new year (yay state jobs), so I have some time to think this through. Question: are there many riders in that area? Runners? Clubs? I am an avid addicted-runner, and getting steadily more into road biking, and I would feel much more confident about moving to a new area on my own if there were some cool riders/runners for me to befriend. Any thoughts?

I live in Folsom, about a 30-40 minute northeast commute from Sacramento.

Sacramento is actually a pretty great place to live. Its got every outdoor activity under the sun available within an hour and a half drive.

I have recently given up any impact related sport and gotten into cycling. I have found this area to be complete supportive to the up and coming rider. I am a competator at heart and have found many mentors and people to ride with. Its a great place to ride, between the flat farmland and the rolling foothills you get a little of everything.
I belong to small up and coming club called ikoncycles. Very supportive in any riding endevor you decide to do. Training support, mechanical support and just support period, it has been great!

I just moved here for MY state job last April. It is a VERY cycling-supportive town compared to the San Jose area where I used to live. Lots of bike lanes, great bike trails by American and Sacramento Rivers. Lots of cyclists, both recreational and commuting.

You just have to go a little farther to find hills around here.
