Do the fatter tires on the Pure mean it might do better on more varied surfaces?

The Pure is fine for just cruising around. But if the roadie bug is biting, don't think you have to be stuck with the 7000. There are TONS of bikes and saddles out there, and surely you can be comfortable on one of them. Test ride lots of stuff. Don't think you just have to pick slow, cute bike over painful fast bike.

Thanks to you all and your SUPERB advice, I'm taking the 7000 back today.
I'm gonna stop on my way over & have a spin on the Suede DX (24 speeds!!!) and stick with the Pure or that for now.... (The Pure comes in a 21 speed..in a cloying pink ONLY...who the hell makes these decisions?!?!?!? I like pink as much as the next girl, but not THAT pink, and NOT on my ride!!!)

And I'll ease myself back into the world of bicycles----pain free I might add ---until I figure out what ELSE I might want to do on 2 wheels.

I was also thinking about how there must be lots of women in my position, with super sensitive bodies, who gave up riding....and how the foot forward technology can be a cure---its like a 2 wheel recumbant (sp?).
Yes...its target market is the new or returning rider who might like the confidence of being closer to the ground..but its real value is in its body geometry.... Granted it's pokey ...but its still a ride...

Look in the Sport series. I'm partial to the Cruz, but I've also heard good (as in zoom-zoom) things about the Zenetik. Or maybe the Dynamik for some (mild) off-road stuff.

Of course, if you want to go full-blown recumbent, RANS has them too. And BTW, not all 'bents are trikes. William (my 'bent) would be incensed to hear you say that. He has 2 wheels, thankyouverymuch.

Okydokey...

I rode the Suede and I really liked it...it actually has beefier tires and a ? suspension? fork (If that's the right name)and it felt bouncy and solid....but agile.

Then I drove down the street & returned the Trek7000. Now the new Trek catalog has the 08 Pure with 21 gears in silver (not just pink...) but its not here yet...

So I'm going to go look at that site "ransbikes" but I think I don't want to complicate matters too much more!!

Do I get the 24 gear Suede
Wait for the 21 gear Pure
or keep the 7 gear Pure............hmmmm

Part of me just wants to say OK! Its over and just ride....but I might really miss those extra gears.

Stick with the Pure for now. In a few months, you'll have a much solider idea of what you (and it!) are capable of. You'll also have a clearer idea of how you *really* use the bike. Then, if there are things you want to do that the Pure can't do, you'll have a good idea of what to change. Plus, as you get in better shape, what you can do with the Pure will change .
