I wept reading that poem... I've never gotten over the loss of my childhood dog. My current dog is a rescue from a neglect situation, and I adore him madly. Python, the story of Sam made me so sad... Just like my Hudson, I can't fathom how some people can be so cruel to a creature with such benevolent and trusting eyes.

This is Sadie and me Christmas 2004, hence the glass of wine in my hand. She was a lovely girl and has left a huge void in our lives. Some might say it's too early but we've been looking at rescue GSDs and there are two that we like. Hopefully we are going to see one of them tomorrow. There are so many rescues out there looking for love and kindness - and we've got a lot of that to give.







In the first pic I'd just given Sadie a treat and she was still licking her lips. These are the best pics I've got of her as she was very camera shy and tended to run away from the camera. We don't know why but can only think she didn't like the flash.

It's always so hard to lose a furry friend. I can't imagine losing my guys. My poor mother is still mourning the loss of her great dane that she put down 2 months ago. It was a devastating story...
Her 8-year-old dane was a big, gentle baby. And one afternoon he suddenly attacked my 13-year-old step-sister. She was sitting calmly at the picnic table, eating a sandwich and suddenly Buddy's mouth was engulfing her face. When my step-dad ripped him off, he turned and attacked him.
It turned out he had a brain tumor, which explained the uncharacteristic aggression. My mother was heart broken.

Sigh... I think I'll go call my mommy.

That is so sad What a terrible thing to happen. I hope your step-sister wasn't too badly hurt and not put off dogs because of it.

My first husband's mother had a cat that over the space of about 2 years got more and more vicious. One day it ran out on the road and had an accident with a car (this was nearly 30 years ago). When they took it to the vet and x-rays were taken it showed that the poor cat also had a brain tumour. She had to be PTS as the tumour was inoperable.

Python - I saw your good news post and had to read it first. It breaks my heart to read about pets that have passed, so it was nice knowing that you did find a new fur-baby, even as I read the sad story of Sadie.
