That seems to be the consensus. I used to work with an older lady whose husband played in a drum and pipe band. She would expound at length on how manly kilts are and how handsome her husband looked in full kit.

A few other things kilts are good for.

They are nice for changing into and out of shorts without having to wriggle around in the car. I run twice a week and I always toss a kilt in the car so I can change in the parking lot.

I wore a kilt to my vasectomy and lived in it for four days afterward. Snug skivvies are good to wear after getting clipped, but the seams in pants are unwelcome.

Road trips. After the first time I drove down to portland in a kilt, I swore I'd never wear pants on that drive again and I do it at least once a month.

Long movies.

Also, I like wearing a sporran because it puts my wallet, keys, cellphone, etc. in a convenient spot. My UK has lots of pocket space. My tartan kilt has a small pocket in an unfortunate spot. Either way, my sporran puts things in a convenient place.

There is something kinda sexy about your wife trying to have a peek up your kilt, or doing an "underwear check" as you pass in the kitchen.

Plus, zippers on men's pants are the work of the devil.

Now that you've mentioned it; yes, that shot of those cute biker boys was photoshopped. I've seen guys in red shorts (and yellow and green) and they just DON'T look like that, sorry.

You get used to it.

Women's fascination with kilted mens undergarments (or lack thereof) is a bit of a mystery to us. I can't imagine walking up to a lady and saying "so what do you have under your dress?" Yet, I've had women I don't know walk up to me in all manner of places and ask that very question. And I've caught women trying to have a sneaky peek in bars, etc.

And that is a nice kilt. I like the sporran too.

And I also think men in kilts look very manly! I'd rather see 'em in kilts than in cargo shorts. (but I lived in Scotland when I was a kid, so I'm biased.)
