Xterra # 3 race report..and some big news!

    Hi Guys,
My third Xterra was this past Sunday. I placed third overall...the girl that placed first was a pro..so I am feeling pretty stoked about third!

AND.....I qualified for the national championship in Tahoe! I am pretty excited, and nervous. The championship race is going to be tough, but I am going to go for it. I have 8 weeks until the race.

AND...the DH raced too, his first. I beat him out of the water, but he caught up with 5 miles to go on the bike and finished the race with me, talking me through the run. It was very cool. We crossed the line together. He could have placed in his age group, but he wanted to stick by me, knowing it was my qualifier. Nice guy eh?

So swim- 1000 meters-two laps-good..they made up run before and in the middle...I hate that.

Get to transition, my mt bike shoe is broken, the top strap will not buckle. A small fit was pitched. I wasted 3 mins, and then said screw it and just went anyway.

Bike-12.4 miles, very rocky, technical single track, but only a few big grunter hills. I havd a great ride. I think the course was actually a bit short, more like 11 miles according to my computer.

Run-supposed to be 3.2, we get there..opps it is over 4. Very tough run, like running in a stream bed. One huge hill, .6 miles up and .6 miles down. What can I say, will I ever fly through the trail run portion of an xterra? Probably not. 39 long mins. But I did not walk, and no girls caught me.

So aside from the shoe, a great race...and a happy racer....

That's sooooooooo awesome. Wow, nationals. Way to go.

What a nice DH you have. Putting up with all your training and he holds back to bring you in.

Well, I'll be keeping an eye on you.

That is just about the most amazing thing I have heard. I am SO in awe of you even doing those races, and then to rock it like that and qualify. Wow. Super impressed. Congrats!

WOW! Great job! The RR was wonderful and so sweet of your hubby to run with you and all.

And you qualified for Nationals! WOAH! Serious stuff there.

We certainly have some amazing women athletes on this board!
