    Brooks saddle waterproofing?

I got some waterproofing stuff for leather goods that I was going to put on my Brooks Saddle. It's called Nikwax. Should I put it on the saddle? Should I use something else?

I never heard of Nikwax. It's probably okay, but of course Brooks recommends a particular brand. I have used various leather protection treatments on my older brooks saddle (about 30 years old) and it's still just fine.

I use Nikwax on my shoes, but I use Proofhide on my Brooks.

I would think the Nikwax would be too sticky on a saddle. The Proofhide soaks into the leather much more than Nikwax does on my leather shoes/belts/dog leash etc. (I'm a big believer in Nikwax, but it really is quite a different product than Proofhide that Brooks sells.)
