    The New Bike

Here are some pics of the new bargain bike. £25 ($50) well spent I think

Son (Ian) with bike. Ian is a renal dialysis patient, hence he's very undersized for his age (20) and we're hoping he'll get a transplant this year. My brother has offered him a kidney so is coming down next month from Scotland for tissue testing. If he is a suitable match, the op itself will be scheduled for the summer. Ian has a mountain bike but finds it very heavy and too much for him at the moment. He likes the Raleigh because it is a lot lighter and he enjoyed our trip out today. His consultant says he should try and exercise as much as possible as this should give him a better appetite. Like many kidney patients, my son's appetite is poor. That should change when he gets a transplant though. Hopefully he'll stay fit enough to enjoy daily cycle runs.

    The two bikes together:

Awww thats great! Thanks for posting the pics! The bikes look great together and I'm sure you're excited you can get out and ride with him. Its always nice to ride with someone. Good vibes for the transplant compatibility, I hope it works out!

thanks for the pics, I agree Allie and Ollie look abfab together. Glad that Ian is enjoying Ollie and sending good thoughts for transplant compatibility as well.
Don't think of it as getting hot flashes. Think of it as your inner child playing with matches

Definately, money well spent! I have a soft spot for Raleighs, having recently purchased one which I love alot. (Well, before today I did...). I think you got a much better deal on yours than I did. Best wishes to you and your son!

Ian's been grinning like a Cheshire Cat all night - and he ate a hearty meal. While we were off galivanting around the cycle paths, hubby was in the kitchen cooking Sunday dinner (he's a better cook than I am, but I'm a better baker than he is so between us we can cook a very nice meal). Usually Ian tends to pick at his meals. Tonight he polished off a full roast beef dinner

We'll be going out with the bikes again tomorrow. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays I'm on my own as that are the days Ian has dialysis and it usually knocks him for six

I've also tonight made tentative enquiries about joining a Cycle Club so they are going to send me details of the ride-outs and club membership in the post. They have two rides - one for the experienced riders and they go anything between 50 and 80 miles, and one for the novices and those who like a slower pace (me) where they basically take their time and enjoy the scenery - what I like doing best
