    Tried Diadora Xterra Mountain Shoes?

long story short: i bought pi vagabond road shoes because i thought, "i'm always going to have a change of shoes for work anyway, so i don't need to be able to walk in them." i now find myself wishing all the time that i could just hop on the bike without also throwing my converse in my backpack. i fear death if i have to walk more than three feet in the vagabonds. the sight of linoleum or hardwoods makes me break out into a cold sweat.

so now i'm looking at the diadora xterra mountain shoes. the price is right and i'm a sucker for hideous color schemes.

has anyone tried these? my main concern is the walkability, since that's my whole motivation for purchase. the treads look good but it's hard to tell if the cleats (eggbeaters) are going to protrude too far, which could cause too much clackiness. not overly concerned about stiffness because i'm keeping the vagabonds for longer rides. i just want these for bumming-around purposes.

also, i've heard mixed stories about general diadora fit. i wear a 7.5-8 us women's and the vagabonds in a 39 fit but were on the big side on me. would diadora's 39 be about the same? could i wear a 40? i would like to have a *little* room for somewhat-thick wool socks.

    thank you in advance, lovelies.
