This is so bizarre. I just got a Nashbar catalog with a nifty looking illuminite jacket and was going to ask about it. And lo and behold, there's your post.
So I want to know too!

Has anyone had any experience with Illuminite gear? I see that TE has some accessories, but the Illuminite web site has some pretty cool cycling clothes. Nice designs, (they carry XS!) and the safety angle is great.
I especially dig these glow-y jersey and tights:

Susan, any chance you'll be carrying these?

We sold Illuminite for a while, and are now closing out of it.
What we found is that the Illuminite treatment to the fabrics is best seen when the viewer is nearer to the light source. When the viewer is NOT aligned with the light source, the reflectivity is not very visible.
We found apparel with 3M-type reflective treatments to be MUCH more visible from a wider viewing angle. Even though 3M reflective trim covers a much smaller surface area, it's more visible.
I hope this helps.

What she /|\ said!
I've got an Illuminite hat, arm warmers and a jacket. The hat I bought intentionally, the rest were from a gear swap and clearance. I wear them when I walk my dog. I figure any extra help is good. But, they really don't work very well. They do something, but you really have to be right up on it to see the reflectiveness. So, if someone is giving away arm-warmers and you need arm-warmers and they happen to have Illuminite, buy them. I think that the 3M reflective stuff is much more effective.
Thanks for the tip!
From the web site it looks like their clothes light up the sky.
yes, really! i have wondered about this too. I want to GLOW as i go down the street.
Such a shame. Cause I really liked their colors.
