Chamois bunching? Short too big?

In my seemingly endless quest for the right saddle (on #6 now), my main complaints have been "nose too wide" or "seat too hard". It's not easy to find a cushy seat with a narrow nose! I'm currently trying out the WTB Deva. I like it pretty well, except for that one spot where my leg meets my groin...

Then today I noticed that the red part of the chamois on my Sugoi Evolution shorts was all bunched up.

So. Is it the shorts? Are they too big? Or is it the type of chamois? Will it always sort of bunch up? Or is it the saddle? I like the middle, yellow part of the chamois.

Any thoughts?

Tomorrow I'm going to ride in some different shorts, and see if I have the same "hot spot" in those.

I have a saddle that I love - the SLR Gel Flow - but I have to say that now there are shorts that I don't love anymore. The Sugoi Reflex and a pair of (expensive) PI bibshorts I have are somewhat uncomfortable on this saddle (especially after more than 2 hours of riding). It seems that their chamois goes too far down the inside of the thigh and can be prone to bunching. It's not a major issue, but it's certainly disappointing for me (these are my two most expensive pairs of shorts). My cheaper shorts (MEC $55 Rapide shorts, very close equivalent to the Trashy Cat Satin shorts I think) work wonders on that saddle (and any saddle, in fact).

Yes, of course, the Sugoi are my "good" ($$) shorts! I've been thinking of buying the Sugoi Sugar Knicker as it gets cooler, but it has the same chamois. I think I'll talk to the folks at TE and get their read of it.

I think it could be the size. I have shorts that I like in both M & L (too much travel this year). The M ones do not bunch but the L does. Same shorts...same chamois. The L is just ever so slightly too large while the M is very snug. Just a thought.

I have this same problem. I have a great saddle...it works wonders when I wear my thin chamois shorts for shorter rides (less than 50 miles). BUT, my PI Ultrasensors which I wear for longer rides, drive me batty. The damn chamois moves around too much...bunches, shifts...very annoying! I'm thinking of trying the shorts in a smaller size, because when it is in the right place, it feels fine. My problem is that my legs are big, so to fit my body, the leg bands are going to be doing some serious 'sausaging'.

I got the saddle right on the first try by doing some measuring and some reading...but getting the right pair of shorts for long rides is turning into a very expensive endeavor for me!!

The transition between the seat and the nose is not sharp enough for me (my thighs rub in a way I don't like) but the nose is not very wide, and it's pleasantly cushy.
