I'm a Brooks saddle fan myself. But I was sore for the first week on my Brooks as well, and now I am totally comfy- I think my sit bones need a few days to get used to ANY new saddle.

its a specialized BG Milano. It came with the bike and mostly i'm happy with it cuz my bones are fine. but i dont seem to be riding on the sits bones all the time. what if i moved the seat into a different position?
I am a Brooks saddle fan. Check out the saddle threads to see what others have said. I guess I was lucky to discover Brooks early. I have never had any cafing/soreness, thank goodness. My Brooks fits me perfectly. My bum has molded it to the point where it does not feel as though I am sitting on anything.

copa, i have heard that the ideal position is absolutely horizontal. try that?Originally Posted by copaiba

thank you all!![]()
I'll go get measured at my fave LBS tomorrow.....
and maybe get one of those horizontal seats!
great idea, your LBS will help you a lot.
and they'll explain what i meant about horizontal position!
I have been doing long rides pretty regularly this summer. I too have a Milano saddle on my specialized bikeOriginally Posted by copaiba
knowing what to adjust can depend on exactly what is hurting, or what is chaffing.
My pubic bone area was sore and starting to chafe but I changed out my stem and that took care of that.
I had some chaffing from the tour I just completed and discovered the chamois in 2 pairs of my shorts weren't good for the long haul but luckily I made a last minute purchase of a pair that had a touring chamois in them. I ended up washing them every night and the problem didn't get worse.(when I tried to wear the other pairs even for a short day I could tell they were the problem)
Getting your bike fitted is a very good idea and many problems or future dilemmas (as your distance gets longer) can be solved relatively easily and inexpensively
Good Luck ! ! !
