    want to have some fun?

You might have seen the article I posted this morning about bicycle safety
    in Seattle.
The article has attached to it a public forum.
I say want to have some fun, but it is as serious as life and death. here
is an opportunity to COMMUNICATE with furious drivers who think bikes do not belong on the road.
thanks for your intelligent, thoughtful responses in advance.

wow - it never ceases to amaze me how defensive drivers can get about their very car centric lifestyles and what they perceive as their absolute right to get where they are going as fast as possible no matter who they have to hurt....

    no kidding.
there's a reason i'm not in politics. i am never prepared for just how nasty people can be... even when we're talking about things that can KILL people.

I'm stunned by some of the nastiness and closemindedness over there!

I will say that I cringe when I see bikers in our area breaking the law. It's people like that who make it bad for those of us who do try to ride courteously!

Is the biker vs car-driver debate always so heated in Seattle? I really don't think it's like that here...granted, we are still a small town in comparison.

It got really bad about 2 years ago because some radio talk show hosts stirred up the flames. I've noticed a serious trend downwards since then.

I read the first 4 posts and then it just got way too ugly. I was starting to take some of those posts way too personally, then I realized the posters were starting to attack each other, so it had become rather personal. But some of the people had very interesting points on taxes and such. Fascinating.
