Talking NEW handlebars!! fun ride downtown

    Well,
some of you might remember Steve Hogg, the guy from Down Under who has so many good articles about bike fit? I wrote to him a few weeks ago when all that bike fitting left me still whining about pain in the hands and an insecure brake connection with the fingers because i couldn't reach. Mind you , i don't have particularly small hands.

Steve talked about Venus Modolo handlebars... So I went to the bike shop and they said, we have EVA, you should try these instead; they shorten the distance between the brakes and the bars because of an indent or something.
(plus they're wider than the old bars)
well, I could immediately tell there was an improvement. THRILLING!
the bike shop guy (This is Elliott bay for you Washingtonians) sat there and watched me and watched me and he made me tip my bike seat up just a tiny bit... and it got BETTER.
He then taught me about bearings, gears and shifting, and we even talked about bushings and pins on the chain (I don't need a new chain) he was absolutely patient and would have sat there all night if i had more questions to ask.
my new bar tapes are yellow (like in my avatar) he also made me buy a new pair of gloves.. I'm not sure i like them better; they are called iron man and are even more padded than my Potenza ones.

then after we left the shop we rode all the way through downtown and home , after going to a fancy restaurant to eat dinner in our bike duds

Well, it was ALL great -- what personal attention -- until the end which left me wondering, so did this end up as an attentive salesman or a date? LOL

Either way, congrats! And I love the yellow bike tape, by the way!

no, actually he was homely and needed to wash his hair. but believe me,
he knew what he was talking about.
the DH was there the whole time, and since they're building a bike for him
he believes that they will now treat us like "part of the family" whatever.

Man, must be nice to get that kind of attention. I wonder if I took my bike in if mine would pay that much attention to me. LOL

Well, Donna, here's my secret. Three weeks before my husband "commissioned"
a custom bike for multiple thousands of dollars with this guy. He'd BETTER be nice to me.
