    Las Vegas Century Oct 21st

How about the Las Vegas Century Oct 21st?

    http://www.vegasbikeclub.org/century/index.html

Anyone that has done it, how is it?
I can't find stats (climbing, etc.) on the website.

    A girls weekend in Vegas??
I am considering this over my Mountain bike trip that same weekend!!

    Thanks!
    Karen

    Karen!

You've turned into a WILD THING!!!

I've heard that is a good century... try PM'ing Caligurl as she has done it (I think).

I was going to do it but need to pare down w/the new job and irritated DH... so I'm trying to stick close to home for the rest of the year!

*raises hand* i did it! and plan to do it this year!

first of all.... AWSOME jersey! i've got to check and if it's the same company... they run HUGE! i had to get an XS! YIKES! this year's is cool too!

BEAUTIFUL ride! you go into redrock.... i don't think the climbing is bad at all.. gradual...and the views.... SPECTACULAR!

there were some crummy roads.. but i'm ok with that (heck... i've ridden on the freaking "cobblestones" at TdPS! NOTHING is as bad as that!)

a few stop signs.... a bit more climbing.... (great descent toward the lake... but the whole time your desceding your thinking "i have to climb out of this!)

last year the wind was HORRIBLE! did i say the wind was HORRIBLE?

    YUCK!

    decent food at the end!

let me go look at bikejournal for my stats... to see what i posted as the elevation!

    4,075 elevation.... 104 miles...

i think the bike club they work with is changing the route this year... but i'm pretty sure it will still go through red rock... they's be STUPID to take that out!

    Going shopping mid century

    I did this last year,
I left Cucamonga on Friday night. Got stuck in a 3 hour traffic jam at the CA/NV line. I realized I had forgetton my shoes. Got to the hotel at 1:30AM. Debbie(my roomate) Talked me in to doing the metric. It went out to Red Rock canyon. Very pretty, but I was pretty misarable. We got to the second rest stop, which was in front of a LBS at Blue Diamond. I got out my plastic and bought a new pair of cycling shoes and cleats(The tennies I was wearing had just about had it!). It was windy as all get out going back.
I'm planning on doing this, dependning on my shoulder. The 100 miles looks like it does both Red Rock and Hoover Dam. They have a metric and a 50 , too.
Cali - Tom/Sue, Fred/Sylvia, and the rest of The Cycling Connection crazies should be there. It should be fun. It's also low key. I think I remember they only had 800 riders last year.

    Heehehehe!!
I tell you after Cool Breeze on Saturday, I am HOOKED on these centuries!
After doing my first century I wasn't sure if I was going to be hooked or if I would think they were overrated and stick with Metrics..
Well, I am HOOKED, trying to do one a month at least (I have two next month)

    Karen,
    advance planning here,
What are you going to do for Nov. I thought the only thing nearby was El Tour De Tucson. They have a sliding fee depending on when you send it in, and I think a deadline is soon. There's no limit to ride size, it just costs you more the more you wait.
Cali - I saw Tom and Sue sunday. They said you had chatted about moi. Maybe I'll get to do CB next year, unless I get enough bucks and insanity together and do PBP(yes, I'm a crazy, too)

    Hi Jana!
I haven't registered YET for November. But there are two in Solvang.
The Solvang prelude on Nov 4th..(just a 50 miler, and a Metric)
OR the Planet Ultra event the Solvang Finest which is Nov 11th
    http://www.planetultra.com/SolFinest/index.htm

Not sure which one I want to do!!!!
    Guess I better decide soon!!
