    Block @ 100k

Hmm.... so far it has been looking good. I've improved - built muscles, stamina, speed, I can climb a while and can last 100 km these days. It's just going further that scares me a little. 4-5 hours in the saddle are ok, since raising the stem angle I don't get paralyzed fingers anymore. But last time we were going to go significantly over 100 km I chickened out and we took the train home. OK - it was about 34 degrees C.

How to take that next step? perhaps to 140? 160?
It's a little secret you didn't know about us women. We're all closet Visigoths.

I think you'll be surprised at how easy it is to go beyond 100K. What worked for me when I was pushing my distances out was to break it down into small groups in my mind........as in, ok I've ridden 50 so far, 75 is just another 25 and I Know I can ride 25 easy (in my case it's miles but the same applies). I also planned a route that wasn't too far from home but far enough that I had to really think before bailing coz someone was going to have to come get me if I bailed. (does that make sense?) and laugh if you want - but I Told quite a few of my friends what I was doing, knowing they would ask me if I had made it or not......and that was incentive to keep going when I wanted to quit! LOL
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"
