Whay is your favorite movies?

I go to the video store and stare at the titles and don't know what to rent. I need some idea's. So what is your favorite move or movies?
I like all Coen brother's movies (raising arizona,Bartin fink,Fargo etc...) I also like Tim Burten's stuff (the artist in me appreciates all the work).

If you're in need of a good cry, I HIGHLY reccommend "Grave of the fireflies" Don't dismiss it cause It's "just a japanese cartoon" It's a really sad tale with beatiful animation and characters that I just fell in love with. It's my ALL TIME favourite movie.

In fact ANYTHING studio Ghibli is WORTH the definatley worth the movie rental fee.

AND if you're in need of a good laugh... then go for KUNG-FU Hustle. BUT only watch it in subtitles. The Written translation is SOOOO much better than the dub.

Can you tell I'm a subtitle buff???

other than that. Anything directed by Baz Lurhman. (Moulin Rouge, Romeo and Juliet, Strictly Ballroom. (Swoon)) or with Ewan McGregor in it.

All That Jazz--Bob Fosse's autobiographical movie with spectacular dancing, sets, costumes, and irony to boot.

Tombstone--a really outstanding job on the Doc Halliday/Wyatt Earp story. Val Kilmer as Doc will charm your socks off.

The Abyss--a wonderful sci fi-ish, deep sea movie with Ed Harris. Very cool.

Fight Club... brilliantly written script, though rather violent

Serendipity, Notting Hill - lovely feel-good romances

As Good As It Gets - again, extraordinarily clever lines at times... a bit of reality...

Blade... a vampire movie, but my fave vampire movie - very sexy without the sex

Predator, Terminator, Alien, Matrix - the firsts of all four very good sci-fi. Subsequent sequels sometimes disappointing

Jaws (one of course) - a movie that still stands the test of time.

Hunt for Red October - well scripted, well-filmed.

The Black Stallion - hardly any speech and could be discounted as a kids film but the cinematography on this is just awesome

I know there are many great films but Hotel Rwanda and Million dollar baby by Clint Eastwood have had the biggest effect on me. Last year I saw Million dollar baby and I thought "This is definitely film of the year" and the week later I saw Hotel Rwanda and it is even better cause it's made by true event.
Advice: prepare many tissues, you'll need it
