    Bought a road bike!!

I tried a bunch of different bikes but finally settled on the Giant OCR1 for many reasons. It was very comfortable, I got a full Ultegra "groupo", it fits me (extra small....yikes), it has carbon fork and seat post, it was in my price range, it was at my favourite LBS so I know I can trust them and will get great service, and it is blue/silver so it's very pretty. I tried to attach the picture, not sure if that will work...

Today was the last day of school and my class gave me a $250 gift certificate to the LBS so I also bought - real bike shoes, a good cyclocomputer with cadence, a Sugoi tank top, and two water bottle holders!! Hee hee, I love shopping. What great parents!!!!

Erik brought his MT bike along when I took her out for a test ride and we climbed a hill. Needless to say, I left him in the dust. That's when I knew I was sold. I swapped out the seat for a more comfy one (may still change that again if necessary), also had them install spacers in the brake levers so I can reach them a bit easier. Looking forward to picking her up tomorrow! Unfortunately, I'm heading out of town Saturday morning and won't be able to really go for a ride until I get back a week later. Oh well, good things come to those who wait...

    Wonderful!

    Enjoy many years/miles of riding!

OMG I LOVE my new bike!!

Picked her up today and took her out for a spin around the neighbourhood. It is SO fast compared to my mountain bike. I tried the hill I usually labour up at 8 km/h and I was able to easily do 13-14 km/h without even using my inhaler first. I'm sure I could go faster if I was able to push. Then I tried the clipless pedals - rode around the block more than a dozen times, first clipping in and out of one foot, then the other, then finally I tried both feet and ta-da - I was doing it! I only fell once and that was on the grass in the front yard, when I was just standing there trying to clip in. Got a nice bruise on my thigh from the handle bars but oh well, coulda been a lot worse. I am so going to love riding that bike... Had to go in and change into my new RS Flex shorts and my new Sugoi tank top just to complete the picture.... The seat feels pretty good too, especially with the padding in the new shorts. Sigh, I love that bike. Have to put her away for a week now while I go visit the inlaws. Will look forward to doing some real riding soon...
