    Wearing out my Bike

I bought my 7 speed Electra Townie on impulse in April. I hadn't been on a bike in years and I had no idea I would fall so in love with the sport. In eight weeks I've put over 450 miles on my bike. Today I'm having the bottom bracket upgraded and that should keep me going well for awhile, but I know as soon as I can afford it I'll buy the new model with bigger, thinner wheels and 21 speeds.

I had the most fun today. A friend and I took a ride called Little Mountain. We did the loop clockwise to make it easier-a five mile gradual climb as opposed to the mile and a half Little Mountain climb. And oh, going down that mile and half steep hill was so fun. I got up to 40 mph before the bike started to wobble and I had to slow down. Beautiful country too.

We went 42 miles, so I feel nicely prepared for the MS 40 mile ride this weekend.

    new gear

The new bottom bracket on my bike gave me a nice smooth ride today for the MS 40. I can no longer say I don't do hills, I don't even particularly dislike them anymore. It was a beautiful ride, in a part of the valley I have avoided because of the hills. After this I won't avoid it anymore.

9 weeks, 500 miles! I'm aiming for a metric century in August, but I definitly need some padded shorts before then
