Wanted to ride on my Trek 7500FX but its brakes were jamming into the front wheel and my morning brain could not figure out what to adjust. Rode in on the Schwinn Racer instead (probably won't do the club ride on it) and then sped down to the bike shop during lunch to see which screws to do what with. Think it's in the noggin so it won't come out backwards.
BYOOTIFUL weather - 79 and SUNNY. Storms to the east so they'll prob'ly miss us (which is almost too bad, since if I can't ride the MOnday club ride, I dont' want anybody else to either ... I'm a dog in the manger :-)) I'll probably just ride home the long way... trying to get in the 33 miles per day I'll have to average to get 1000 for the month (22 to go today).
The clouds finally broke late this morning and I decided to take advantage of the sun before the next system moves into our area late this afternoon. It was a beautiful day to be out on a bike, sunny, slight breeze, upper 70's and humid. I rode 29 miles and some change, very low traffic and lots of beautiful scenery to soak up as I cruised the back roads of my community.
Just running errands today, but it still added up to 13 miles in the end so I figure it counts. Had to go in to work to pick up a couple of files even though today is my day off. Then I went out to the LBS in another attempt at making the bike comfortable. I now have a shorter handle bar stem, that can be adjusted angle-wise. Hopefully that will help. I felt like I was reaching too far before. Still not happy with the saddle though. Tried a couple more at the LBS. One that was very cushy which felt nice on my sore sits bones, but was obviously too wide putting pressure on the top of my leg. Another that seemed good width wise (no pressure on the top of my leg) and all the weight was on my sits bones. OOO the pain! So still no closer to finding the perfect saddle. But I'm not giving up. And tomorrow I go on my first group ride. Exciting!
did my hilly 40 today. I was hoping it would be easier than the first time I did it but it wasn't. Although, my HR recovery was much better and I don't feel trashed now that I'm finished like I did the first time. I did improve my average speed by .9 and noticed that I'm feeling a lot more in control so I'm pretty happy with that! It was 94 when I finished and I'm not really acclimated so it was tough, kept chugging water and sports drink and dousing myself.
Overall a good, tough ride!

Oooh, so sorry to hear your sit bones are still sore UK. Mine were fine with that same saddle. Of course, I'm prob'ly putting in fewer miles. And I have more thickly padded butt![]()
Today I took RubySlipperz to the LBS for packing. Kinda cool to see all the guys lined up looking worriedwhen I carried her in with the front wheel in one hand and the rest in the other, and so relieved when I told them I just didn't think it made sense to put the wheel back on when she was there for packing. They laughed and said they always get that look when they see a bike coming in "limping".
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.
Hi!
My husband and I went for a 10 mile ride today on the path. We started at 4:30PM -- it was 91 degrees.
Our plan was to go off the path & follow some directions (PocketRides) we got to make our ride more interesting...........but, after starting, it was just too difficult to follow the directions & cycle at the same time.
So, we are going to check it out while driving -- That way we'll have a much better idea of where we are going.... Makes sense to me.
I was having a bit of difficulty riding on the street in traffic. I don't know if it's my "depth perception", or what, but.....I was pedaling close to the curb, and the cars were close to my left...
I'll just feel way more safe if we take our car around this route a couple of times so it will be familiar.
I don't know how I even thought that following those directions (while riding) would work...... I thought it would be easier...
Oh well.....I'm learing & having a blast!!
Yesterday at 5pm, we did 15 miles & had a great time. We are really, really enjoying ourselves sooooo much!!![]()
Enjoy the evening!
