Runing Coaching- Update- Week 8- I RAN!

Well, today's session started in the office.

We did some warmup exercises and some core strengthening moves. My main problem is always placing my foot straight (without the toes pointed out) and pushing my knee out (it always falls inwards). So we really focused on getting my foot straight and the knee out with jumping and balancing moves.

Then after 30 minutes we headed to the park.

I did some more running drills that involved a skip and slow moves to exaggerate the way I am suppose to run. I did OK... except I had this crazy left leg doing it's own thing. I nearly died laughing though, because I could have SWORN the left leg was rocking the drill, not the right leg. OOPSS!

    Then I got to run!

What I had to focus on while running:
    Pushing OFF the ground.
Moving my arms with purpose, instead of just having them loose at my side.
    Stomach in.
    Leaning forward more.

I ran about 500 meters. Not too far, but it was still running! My form was OK... but it still needs fine tuning.

And yes, my form is COMPLETELY different than what is use to be. The way I am running now is nothing like how I use to run before.

Money well spent? I hope so!

Thanks for reading! I will keep you updated as the weeks tick away!

You are so dedicated- that's all I can say. Eight weeks!! I'm glad you're making such progress. I don't think I'd have the patience/stick-to-it-ivness that you have. Especially if I had to practice at home...

Well Nanci, my dedication is from the fact that I honestly was at a point where I physically could not run anymore.

Faced with the idea of not doing triathlons anymore, has gotten me motivated to try to fix my running and the pain associated with it.

And, 8 weeks is a long time... and I probably have 8 more to go before I can run a good solid mile with perfect form... but it will be worth it in the end. I will have perfect form and no pain from running.

So, this year I might only get one tri on the calendar... but it will be worth it in the long run.

    Thanks for the compliments!

Oh, nice new picture! I almost didn't know who it was posting... as I was so use to seeing you laying on a rock in green cycling clothes.

Perhaps if you complete one tri this season that will be done with no pain -it will be the most enjoyable tri you have done so far. I am sure all your training will pay off

    Very true.

Just being able to run a 5K without a side stitch and with a 10 minute mile (or better!) will make this all worth it!

Oh, and my legs are so sore today! Thank goodness I finally have a rest day today and tomorrow! 6 solid days of exercising has finally caught up to my muscles!
